Thanks! I couldn't figure out (from the instructions) how to release the quick release plate and how to put it back on. A picture (your video) is worth a thousand words!!

You normally don't have to pull both levers at the same time. Typically you release the safety first then pull the release for the quick connect. Much easier

Nice video. Just bought one and it seems to be simple, but quite effective. It must be pointed out that there are no levels on this head and it will be wise to add a spirit level on your camera (provided the hotshoe isn't being used for flash/flash control) or use the built-in level on your camera. I did purchase an additional 200PL plate just in case for a second camera or the other gets lost. Another thing that is nice about the Manfrotto 200PL plate is that the screw can be hand-tightened without a screw driver or coin.

So wait up... this ballhead can do panning as well? Like the camera would be ontop, locked in place, and then with the friction you can loosen things so that it can pan without the entire ballhead and camera dipping down/slipping?

I was able to attach an arca swiss type plate to the 498RCW version (adding glue to make it secure)
