Do you have to do anything to the barn router for it to recognize your WIFI ?
@diy_warriorАй бұрын
Nope. It’s basically being fed a signal from the house internet thru the power cable to the Ethernet cable and then produces its own independent WiFi network in the shed.

This is a good retrofit , but if you're getting power run to a shed get the contractors to run CAT6 or fibre optic cable at the same time.

So you have the Ethernet from the shed router to the dlink extender but do you have an Ethernet that connects that cheap shed router to the main router or not? If not then it doesn’t need one because why?!!!
@TMane9997 ай бұрын
Its wirelessly connected to the main router using the d link devices if i understand correctly.
@diy_warrior6 ай бұрын
The d link isn’t wireless. It carries the internet signal from the main router to the first d link via Ethernet cable, then thru the electrical outlet to the outlet in the shed. The shed d link then takes the signal to the shed router via Ethernet.

Not exactly sure why, but I suspect it has to do with the electronics in the surge suppression circuitry. They are very picky about electronics plugged into the same circuit also.

Once you buy one extension your usually halfway to another opener and i would probably need 2 extensions which doesnt work with belts. The Wire them together and porgram on same button together.

Is your shop heated? If not how is your router holding up in the winters? From what I'm reading below freezing can adversely affect routers and my shop is only heated if I'm working in it.
@diy_warrior Жыл бұрын
No, my shop is not heated. My router is holding up well it’s been down to -20°F and no issues not that I spend a lot of time in my shop when it’s that cold but I haven’t had issues once it warms up. I’m not sure what model it is, but it was the cheapest Belkin router I can find.
