@isaackershnerART Michigan real estate vs California real estate... Your 10x10 is worth my 60 by 80 pole barn. Lol.. I live in a place called Irish Hills. Between Wamplers Lake and Evans Lake, roughly 5 miles east of Michigan international speedway.. I tried So-cal for a while.... Absolutely gorgeous place save for the graffiti n razor wire all over the freeway signs. It was early 2000s San Diego. 400k for what amounted to a prison cell.

No, my shop is not heated. My router is holding up well it’s been down to -20°F and no issues not that I spend a lot of time in my shop when it’s that cold but I haven’t had issues once it warms up. I’m not sure what model it is, but it was the cheapest Belkin router I can find.

The signal is solid. I only have about 12 Mbps download speed in the house but I still get 6 or so in the shed. I learned that it helps not to plug the units into the same circuit that has inductive loads or power supplies.

why cant you pug into a surge protector ??? also is a gfi plug in the same ?? the antishock pluging ?? whats the reason please i just figured 110 power was 10 power.?? thanks

Not exactly sure why, but I suspect it has to do with the electronics in the surge suppression circuitry. They are very picky about electronics plugged into the same circuit also.

Question sir. Are your house and transformer on different meters? I’m trying to accomplish something similar to get internet to my shop. My house WiFi just isn’t quite strong enough. I have one transformer that feeds both house and shop. But they’re on separate meters.
@diy_warrior2 жыл бұрын
Mine are on the same meter. But I think it would still work with 2. You might try it and take the power line adapters back if it doesn’t work.

Put in another outlet in your shop and plug that right into it and it will improve your speed on it.

Do you have to do anything to the barn router for it to recognize your WIFI ?
@diy_warriorАй бұрын
Nope. It’s basically being fed a signal from the house internet thru the power cable to the Ethernet cable and then produces its own independent WiFi network in the shed.
@beentheredonethatoriginals56732 жыл бұрын
Sometimes if you switch it to the other hot leg on another outlet it will speed it up. They like to be on the same bus bar. I have 2 sets, I love them. They will easily do 100MB speed but it sounds like you have slow internet at the house Anyway. Good video

Do ya recon an extension cord ran from an outside plug at the house supplying all power to the garage with a 3 way splitter inside the garage , with the d link plugged into it would work?
@diy_warrior2 жыл бұрын
It would work as long as the outlet on the outside of the house is on the same Line as the house d link is plugged into. There are typically 2 vertical Lines in breaker panels. L1 and L2.
@tvz22557 ай бұрын
So you have the Ethernet from the shed router to the dlink extender but do you have an Ethernet that connects that cheap shed router to the main router or not? If not then it doesn’t need one because why?!!!
@TMane9997 ай бұрын
Its wirelessly connected to the main router using the d link devices if i understand correctly.
@diy_warrior6 ай бұрын
The d link isn’t wireless. It carries the internet signal from the main router to the first d link via Ethernet cable, then thru the electrical outlet to the outlet in the shed. The shed d link then takes the signal to the shed router via Ethernet.

@kins81683 жыл бұрын
Amazon is more than likely Your best bet. Just look up power line Ethernet adapter. I’d rank netgear, tp-link then d-link in that order. Make sure to get the one that will max your speed. If you pay for more speed (300+Mbps) get one that can support it. Gigabit will be perfect but not necessary if you don’t have that much speed.
@kins81683 жыл бұрын
Also the key is making sure it’s on the same power source otherwise it won’t work.
@elsoil33872 жыл бұрын
So to begin, I would need to install a "common power source" between my outhouse and home. In what universe is that cheap or easy?
