Ms. Dalziell herself was worthy of several kinds of mating call, sadly the sound of an actual Rolls Royce engine operated by some oick likely having consigned the lyrebird to a life of frustrated solitude.

They don't just do a kookaburra, but they do *two* of them arguing, even overlapping them!

i visited friends outside Melbourne towards the snowy mountains and we were sitting on the back deck have a tea and from the forest behind us at night fall is a lyrebird doing a baby crying. The lyre bird was imitating their new born baby. It was a weird thing to hear coming from the forest.

What a wonderful, impressing bird! Both its so called dancing moves and spellbinding wing movements seems extremly like peacocks! Are they in any way relatives?

The sounds they they make depend on the area that they live. E.g in the Blue Mountains of NSW,where I am from they mainly mimic local birds, however on the North Coast forests north of Newcastle they're more likely to mimic chainsaw sounds because that's where there is a large timber industry
