Why do people do that glow plug and keep cranking. Not sure on cars but heavy equipment you can.....glow plug it and crank it ...then glow plug it again and crack it as meny times as you need to diesels need heat to start up usually you have to turn the key. Right off then on and the glow plug light should come back on
@JesusChrist-es8prАй бұрын
Notice after glow plugging it the first time it tried to start then nothing .....new starter soon buddy😊
@matthewwijsma9978Ай бұрын
No manual control of glow plugs on this car, it glows when you turn on ignition once. Thats why i cycled ignition a couple of times, to try get it to glow again.

I should make another video. It does run/drive/stop. I took it to an event and drag raced it hahah. And I drove it to my new house. But yeah... progress is slow. I do now have a second one and hoping to get this one on the road within the next 18 months... hopefully... but mortgages are painful :)
@marknelson59298 ай бұрын
Well done Matthew, thanks for the reply. Hope she sees the road again, life and mortgages aside. There are a fare few people out there who like this particular series of Humber Super Snipe, incredibly well built with a great 'truck' engine etc. they need preserving. All the very best.

Hi Matthew. Your poor baby. Sorry you had a hard time starting. I recommend using a light weight oil something along the lines of 0W40 or 5W40 full synthetic. Also i dont know if you know but when the glow plug light goes out after 3 seconds. Your glow plugs are still heating up it actually takes 30-40 seconds you will hear a relay click once the plugs are red hot. I wait untill my glow plug relay clicks then starts. Atleast i know the cylinder has a bit of heat in it to ignite the diesel. Other than that change your glow plugs if you haven't done so and as you know change your diesel filter. I also recommend to get a diesel water seperator

Engine had to come apart again. The piston rings were chrome plated and the chrome started to flake off and score the cylinder walls. She lost a fair bit of compression after its first drive in over 40 years. So currently the pistons are out, new rings fitted and I have honed the bores. Still a bit of damage but she should run. Just gotta put the pistons back in, head back on and it will go for another spin. I'll record it this time :)
