My problem is I don't want to let things go, I'm not taking about cloths or kitchen cookware. Mine is in the basement, camping stuff, tools and a whole lotta junk I don't need but can't bring myself to get rid of. On top of all that, it's not organized, I pile stuff on top of anther or just throw it in a bin, floor, table. Been cleaning some for the past month every weekend but I mostly move it around. Done got rid of three 42 gallon bags of trash but some of the stuff my wife throws away I get it out and tell that it's good stuff. I have to approve before it goes. I have enough stainless steel (camping) pots, pans, cups and water bottles for 3 or 4 people but can't get rid of them. I don't consider myself a hoarder but my wife does. She watches a lot of your videos. Sorry for the lengthy comment.

We all have certain things we have trouble getting rid of! I feel that letting go of things is like a muscle. It’s hard at first, but the more we do it, the easier it gets. It can help to envision what you would like to see in the space instead of the things that are there. Focusing on something good as an outcome can be really helpful. Thank you for watching! I truly appreciate it!

Ironically, my family is Swedish and a long line of hoarders. I wish my parents could embrace this concept. My father has a full compulsion of feeling guilt getting rid of anything that has a connection to family members that are gone now, like his parents. These things aren't the nice things, but like old notebooks with scraps and newspaper clippings or receipt books. He is actually swimming in duplicate photos, cards, or linens.

Yes. I read a comment below one of Margareta's videos. It was from a Swede, and she said döstädning was, as we are now hearing about it here online, is not a common practice in Sweden. Döstädning is a word describing what people do all over the world. It means cleaning up a person's possessions and papers after they've died. I understood it is not a common Swedish cultural practice to döstädning before death. As an aspiring minimalist with maximalist tendencies who has a penchant for organising I explore any decluttering and organisational trend that crosses my path. I keep the best for me now and ditch the rest. I revisit my favourite methods when I need 'scaffolding' or 'body doubling'.

I’m in my 50s and have struggled for years with fitness. I don’t enjoy it so therefore I avoid it. However in the past couple of years I discovered Pilates (Lindywell is my favorite videos❤) and in a “normal” week I do it 5x. It’s the most consistent I’ve been in a long time. And the instructor says the most important thing is consistency. I just want to stay flexible at this age and going forward. “You’re only as young as your spine” -Joseph Pilates That’s the words I’m living by. You are doing great! I am on board with all these tips. I have also scanned or shredded almost all of our paper. And the important papers are organized, scanned and stored in our safe. And with gift wrap I do the exact same thing: craft bags and paper and a few different ribbon choices. So much easier than it used to be when I had a huge inventory

Yes! I am going to implement the making my bed. I split chores, Mop it Monday is all floors sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, straightening up living room/toys. I pull off sheets/blankets first thing in the morning and run those. I scrub my little half bath as I mop that. Throwing stuff away as I go. Tuesdays are toilets/bathrooms. I also grocery shop this day right after school drop off so I'm there right when it opens. Wednesdays is wipes it down, so all cabinets, stove, microwave, dishwasher, all countertops declutter and scrub, coffee pot, sinks. I also sweep and sometimes mop the kitchen again 😂 kids! And then I also do 1 load everyday as well and always putting dishes either away or in the dishwasher. I meal plan for a week usually at a time so I'm only running 1 day. Fridays are refresh so if I have time I'll vaccum up the living room again/kids take care of toys. I also put my strength training in first like you said! I do that 3x week! This helps everything from being overwhelmed or piling up!

@thegoodnessmargin I had a breakdown 😆 earlier last year before school ended. It was too much! I decluttered from May to August and made a schedule to fit school my work and make weekends off. Otherwise I was cleaning like 13hrs in one day. But number 1 rule is throw it out! So I go weekly through the house and try to get rid of stuff as soon as my kids say this doesn't fit or I see I'm not using it in over a year, it's gotta go! Summer I take 1 room at a time and go through all of it! It made me feel like a weight was lifted!

Do you have any ideas to declutter a small room that 3 daughters sleep, 2 teens and 1 adult, 13 yrs, 16 yrs, and 20 yrs. To let them have their own little perosnal space yet not to squished and they do not enjoy bunk beds anymore. On a budget? This is a great idea i think my Christmas decor is not my taste anymore. Thank you God bless
@thegoodnessmargin Жыл бұрын
With 3 sharing a space you will definitely have to have very defined spaces for where each person can put their belongings. And minimal will be a necessity! Is there another space or closet in the home where they can keep things that won’t fit in those well defined spaces? Under the bed rolling drawers could work if they each have their own beds. Good luck!
