You just can't teach artistry, elegance and class. Chen Lu's individual technical elements are not the best, but somehow when everything comes together there's this wonderful MAGIC that goes far beyond the sum of the elements. She makes you forget you're watching a long program! Truly an artist :).

@Aldobrandini Kwan has had many free skates better and artistically stronger than her 96 Worlds free program so that being the only Kwan program to make your list is a bit strange. And I agree that Kwan in no way deserved to win the 96 Worlds.

@theicebutterfly Yes, I agree with you. The rules have changed somewhat, and this program was probably a bit undermarked even under the 2005-06 rules. Stéphane's qualifying program at this same competition actually received a higher score than this, and it had some very obvious mistakes and was much less polished overall, IMO, although it was still quite good. Also, I think that the downgrading of the triple axel in this program is questionable. Again, just my opinon.

@cw6391 I think she is still pretty recognized today, maybe more than in her competitive career when she was overshadowed by skaters who were media stars. I agree that she deserved more than she got from the judges on more than one occasion.

@smartskater1 I HAVE to agree... artistically she is superb. She is one of the most beautiful skaters, very under-rated. Fans that love figure skating though, remember her!
