You just can't teach artistry, elegance and class. Chen Lu's individual technical elements are not the best, but somehow when everything comes together there's this wonderful MAGIC that goes far beyond the sum of the elements. She makes you forget you're watching a long program! Truly an artist :).

This is my favorite Chen Lu program. I thought Toller Cranston's choreography suited her very well. When she switched to Bezic, she just got sappy choreography.

@cw6391 I think she is still pretty recognized today, maybe more than in her competitive career when she was overshadowed by skaters who were media stars. I agree that she deserved more than she got from the judges on more than one occasion.

Judges seemed way more stingy with the 6.0's back then. Even their beloved Oksana Baiul never got the artistic marks that later skaters would. But yeah, Lu Chen and Kristi Yamaguchi were consistently underscored in Artistic Impression, imo.

@Aldobrandini Kwan has had many free skates better and artistically stronger than her 96 Worlds free program so that being the only Kwan program to make your list is a bit strange. And I agree that Kwan in no way deserved to win the 96 Worlds.
