Murray is one of the best ? No, he is not, and he has nothing to suggest that he is. Given his poor body mechanics, I think he's just a glorified cheerleader to the excellence of Novak. As for the Nadal, well I said it before it all starts and ends with Federer, there would not have been a super age of men's tennis had it not been for him, once he was gone the entire phenomenon was tropedoed. Nadal will be missed but no as much as Fed, Oh bring out the pomspoms Andy !

I only see one reason for Novak to bring Andy in. I think the main thought in Novak's mind is to see if Andy can bring something different to the table that would help him best Sinner and Carlitos especially at Wimbledon. There's little else Nole needs to beat the rest of the ATP but these two have made life very difficult for him as seen in the last two Wimbledon finals.

Great conversation as always. There is no better choice than Andy atm. Andy has an amazing tactical approach, fresh out of the tour, a friend from childhood, he can bring new views and ideas regarding Novak's next-gen opponents, or regarding Novak's game itself. Andy was the guy that stopped Novak's 2015-2016 run, unfortunately hos reign was short due to his injuries, but he knows everything, and he was the motivational factor for Novak for so long already. From different perspective, even as a symbolic fight of old guys versus new guns is great to see. Or from a PR pow - having a better reception in UK media. Or only as a "placebo" to have it on his side is beneficial and Novak would take it, he is that kind of guy.

It was much easier to get Federer's right - he was only playing that one match no matter what, all of his rivals were already there, there were tears... and he's Roger, he's Mr PeRFect lol. Even Murray's at Wimbledon they sort of pulled available players on court, luckily it included some great ones- I actually found watching him at the Olympics making those impossible come backs with Dan Evans more emotional. And I think I found Nadal's last dance with Novak at the 6 Kings more moving than his farewell at Davis Cup, which was fine but a little anti climatic after the Doubles loss.

Na dude, if you went through that generation you would know. Andy was always there. Winning masters, beating the big 3 more than anyone. He also become world number 1. Won 2 olympic golds. Wawrinka didnt do any of these things. He just got hot fir a year and a half amd played ridiculous tennis. Murray was great for 10 years and played against the three greatest when they were all at their peak

I think Murray was brought in more as a on court/in match tactics coaching voice/cheerleader. Less off court coaching. Because now you can coach during a match legally, so why not get one of the most brilliant minds as a voice in your corner during a match?

I don't think retirement ceremony is that important, at all. Djokovic and other big names were supposed to come to see Rafa in the final weekend - but Spain lost to Netherlands. So what? Does it change anything about Rafa's legacy? Not, at all. Murray ended his career at Wimbledon, Rafa didn't at RG. Does it take anything away from his legendary status at Chartier. Nothing, at all. He can have a nice send off there in 2025 or any other year. Endings are rarely perfect, and in case of both Roger and Rafa it was more than a year of physical and (I guess) mental huge struggles to carry on. And their bodies finally said "no". The same will happen to Novak, sooner or later. Really, these ceremonies don't mean that much, can be better or worse, sometimes players don't have much influence on that. I personally didn't even watch Serena's and Rafa's retirement ceremonies, at all, from Roger's ceremony only his, Rafa's and Novak's speeches. Their legendary careers are all that matter.

Ha! Dear J-A-G-Should have known my Holiday Wishes were premature commenting on the last vid ep:164 :) Yeah, the Rafa send-off was a bit flat. Love the Amy take on Roger/Rafa/Andy send-offs blending from the personalities & qualities! I love how GG is all fired up about the NolAndy partnership! I think it will be a HOOT to see what develops. Happy for both of them to take on new frontiers in their 2025 partnership journey! Loved Joel's take on the focus/blend of this very serious partnership. Really looking forward to AO-2025 & beyond to see what/who shows up and HOW? Yannik-season of his life in '24. Sasha on the rise! Carlos' up/down trending. Novak to re-INVENT himself while battling Father Time & the Next-next Gen uprisings! HAZAAH! Here's to the best year EVER for Tennis! Thanx Y'All! And have an amazing Holiday Season with friends & loved ones 🙏🌈🎄Best, Milan xx

I just don’t understand the benefit for Novak, maybe extra motivation? He doesn’t need coach Andy at this point, and I can see this breaking bad more than being a benefit. Novak needs a punching bag as a coach, that isn’t and won’t be Andy.

You're right Amy. In the big scheme of things, Rafa's fantastic tennis career hugely overshadows the DC send-off. He'll have many more tributes and I'm sure RG will do something special, which Rafa will like. I see Djokovic employing Murray as an interesting talking point. The question is whether this pairing will make much of a difference. I think not.

@ he could have not viciously attacked ND at AO22 pressers and celebrated like a hyena when he beat a depressed ND in the next French quarters… but alas, he got what he deserved, he will always be haunted by the fact that he thought he had stolen GOAT and then ND showed why he’s the real GOAT. If anything, I feel bad for RF, who is relegated to #3 behind a clay courter

Murray has an insatiable love for the game. He kept playing at his best level consistently even when beset by the big three, he chose to keep playing with a metal hip fighting an insurmountable obstacle, still played the best point ever against Kokkinakis, and now dives head first into coaching only months after retiring. British bulldog mentality.
