I only just started getting into digital art and 2D animation six months ago, spent 10 years trying to improve my previously grade-school level art the traditional way (i.e. all hand drawn), and before that spent the previous 10 right out of school trying to refine my writing skills because my art sucked. Was all fine and dandy until OpenAI announced Sora as a text to video generator... Even it's still a work-in-progress, I've just been in a huge rut knowing that that's coming... Seriously, a lot of this stuff should be banned when it's been trained on the copyrighted works of independent artists and content creators who had no say in the matter. Knowing this and how much energy they wasted "training" AI generators just for that is enough to give anyone depression. They keep talking about making it "more efficient", but the damage is already done (i.e. the same people pushing to advance AI are the SAME ones who were telling everybody to "go green" less than two decades ago-total hypocrites!).

The future:

they'll imitate human-generated artwork up until the point where they can physically interact with, &/or perceive, the same 3D world that we live in-thus providing them the ability to generate original pieces. that and who knows if synthetic 'life' will ever be capable of expressing [the same(?) level of?] emotional, intuitional or existentialist contemplative abilities... the question: 'to what degree can/do those abilities drive / facilitate human-generated art?' is an interesting one. humans may have a leg-up in that regard. It'll be fascinating to witness and document how the world reacts, for the first time (assuming a neutral non theological perspective), to having 2 intelligent 'lifeforms' roaming the earth simultaneously... and subsequently so, to what degree co-habitation will be possible.

idk, if someone or something can come along and prove your contribution to the world pointless and you can't prove it wrong then you deserve to be replaced.
