Since this video it finally grew up and almost graduated collage! Its a 21 footer now.

If you fish at night like I do the catfish come into the shoreline waters so I don't have to cast more than one hundred feet. I usually cast one bait out about ten feet to get the ones that are in really close
@Capt_BillyКүн бұрын
That is how one of my buddies caught the sturgeon on a precious video. He was only around 20 feet out.
@madtownanglerКүн бұрын
@Capt_Billy I used to fish in a spot where the farthest cast would get the catfish first but I don't fish there anymore. There are too many boats running across the lines. I caught four channel catfish over twenty pounds in my new spot and one carp almost thirty pounds. In all the years I was fishing in my old spot I got only one channel catfish over twenty pounds. My new spot is only three blocks from where I live so I get up at 3 am to go fishing.

Crazy, I switched to bait casting so I could cast further and be more accurate. I also throw off alot less bait, even throwing chicken liver. I've fished with spinning reels for 25 years and was better with a baitcaster in less than a trip. Took so long to switch because they didn't used to make left handed reels, especially not in my price range haha.
@goodcitizen64Күн бұрын
I only use spin cast reels! I truly don't like bait casting reels! I've got everything from 50+ pound King salmon in Alaska to 70+ pound catfish here in Texas! God bless y'all
@N-D-OutdoorsКүн бұрын
@goodcitizen64 I have 1 spin cast reel, it's actually a under spin. It's a zebco omega 164.
@madtownanglerКүн бұрын
All my bait casting reels are left handed reeling even though I'm right handed. This way my spinning reels and bait casting reels all reel the same. Plus if I'm casting I don't have to switch hands Everytime I cast.
@N-D-OutdoorsКүн бұрын
@@madtownangler yea, I'm predominantly right handed for most things but I'm ambitious. I would also rather have my dominant hand on the rod. I actually have equal amounts of left and right hand setups, all the right handed reels I have got for free but still use them. When I use my bait bucket/rod holder crate it requires me to use a left and right hand rod to be able to reel down on fish. I also use the left and right combo when I dragging off the back of my kayak, for the same reason as the crate.

Your release on the yellow catfish was so vivid and clear. Maybe share what camera you are using.

It was the same one following me around at the start of the video. I didn't like that look when editing the clips so I zoomed in, hoping for less eye stress (instead of ditching it completely). The new camera is the DJI Pocket 3. I need to test it doing some unboxings and podcasts. The rest of the video was the normal DJI Action 4 I use for most fishing videos. I can be a tech nerd sometimes, been through quite a few cameras.

I have a question why do you rock your bait back-and-forth and then throw it?
@sleepy_teethtv2 күн бұрын
To give it more momentum to cast farther.

What he said! I still don't have my timing down for that type of cast.

What specifically are them rods and reels?
@Capt_Billy2 күн бұрын
Okuma Cat Slayer rod CSR-S-802MH and Okuma Avenger Baitfeeder Spinning Reel ABF-6000. The rods are new and a little hard to find (selling good) although there may be a few of the 8 foot spinning left on Okuma's website. Here is an Amazon link to the reel (I may get a commission if you buy it): amzn.to/40sWFio
