@Detroit-Berlin - what is the major difference between Adam s3h vs. those classic JBL monitors (looked to me like those used for Michael Jackson's Thriller production :))
@Detroit-Berlin
@Detroit-Berlin 5 күн бұрын
The JBL have a vintage sound, good but not as tight, clear and balanced as the Adam Audio S3H. JBLs are 50 years old but still very decent sounding if paired with the right amp. I really love them (have a pair of 4312 in my living room for entertainment sound). The S3H are for the serious surgical production work.

@ Sweepable multimode filters can be fantastic for improvised playing. For a relative newcomer like me the delineation of pots could be clearer; between global and individual, attenuverter-of-cv and direct control (although those overlap). In fact … I will see if simply the use of coloured knobs helps me navigate the module instinctively. Love the channel.

that A23 (also 3-way like s3h) costs more for 1 speaker only than what I payed for a set of S3H’s. I’m also under the impression (looking at there lower, by a lot, watt specs) that they would probably be better suited for non-electronic music. @ oh, I was not planning on using the adjustments on the ADI2 to master a track, I have outboard and plugins for that. In theory it should be possible but it is easy to see this is a non practical workflow because yes I’m sending the audio out to outboard gear but right after I will be monitoring and finalising the mastering and I need the clean settings. Switching between settings on the unit will be cumbersome in my opinion and very hard to recall. The adjustments you can do with the ADI are good for when you need to tune your monitoring because of room problems.

@Detroit-Berlin the only reason I ask is because (even. Though they keep simplifying the menus) there are NO demonstration videos. Even if you save your settings and only delve into minor adjustments, you would be the ONLY person with a video showing us HOW it "could" work. And THAT bit of education (for those of us starting with ADI-2 pro BE) can carry into future converters and mastering applications.

Sound great. Is it too much of a "tube mess" if I use it after SPL MK3 Vitalizer that has also tubes in it and after Drawmer 1974 EQ (I use Drawmer just 1db, 2 max on a master bus) for the final EQ boost of the whole mix? I really like the sound, but the SPL Vitalizer already gives so much vibe and "EQ warmth and silk" - I'm afraid is going to be too much; yet I want to boost it more than just 1 or 2db (with Tegeler EQP1) at the end before going to VCA SSL style compressor? Exec summary: I tried this on my old Keith McMillen Qunexus case and it worked really well! I bought a Qunexus in 2013, and after being kept in a drawer, found it had gone sticky in 2020. Got a replacement case from KM and had a go at the first case with Goo Gone, label remover spray, and isopropyl alcohol. Nothing shifted, but it left an even worse mess. I put it all in a bag. In the UK, the purple/blue alcohol is called methylated spirits: it's cheap and easily available. After a few wipes with some meths-soaked kitchen towel, it started shifting and after 20-30 minutes the sticky goo is all but gone - visually there may still be some residue, but I can't feel it. The underlying plastic is cosmetically fine, the lettering/legends on the top of the case are unaffected. The bar code on the bottom is a bit degraded. The rubber feet stayed on. Many thanks to @Detroit-Berlin that made my day. The replacement case is starting to get a bit sticky now...

Thanks. I found this is the best for softening the sticky gunge that has appeared on my Dell laptop palm-rest. I tried isopropyl alcohol and commercial cleaners but denatured alcohol (ethanol) worked best by far, although it's not easy to get here in the UK. The softened gunge still needs scraped off but it's not as arduous as it was after using other solvents.

Honestly I'm not sure, got a MPC live2 too and I think there's a big chance the text could come off but I could be wrong. Hello good man. I want to ask you. I'm in a dilemma right now. I have the following equipment. Yamaha MG10XU Mixer, 2 HS8 Monitors + HS8S Subwoofer, MSI-Vector Laptop with 13gen Intel core i9 13980hx, +Thunderboot 4 output, I think the graphics card doesn't matter as well as the SSD, the chipset itself. I am considering the purchase of a DAC and settled on the RME ADI-2 Pro FS. I'm hesitating about what interface to get to improve the sound. I mainly use my studio for guitar recordings and listening to quality music. What would you advise me about DAC and is it worth investing in? Or just get a good audio interface. Thank you very much!
@Detroit-Berlin
@Detroit-Berlin 3 ай бұрын
@@h.valkanovthe_4th_550 Hi, if pristine sound is what you want the ADI2 Pro is a great option, via software there would be a possibility to direct monitoring (hearing what you’re recording without any latency) I haven’t tested that functionality yet. I use an SSL big six for recording and the adi2 for playback and mastering (where latency is no issue), the big six provides more input channels and the ad conversion is good. You could buy an interface with Adat i/o and put the adi2 pro on those channels for pristine ad da conversion. Also make sure your room is acoustically treated well because that makes perhaps the most difference. If you like to support the channel it would be nice to follow the affiliate links when you buy something 👍 Good luck 🙂

@@TableTennisVR-Indonesia if one of your headphones drivers (left or right one are connected wrong the in phase signal will sound out of phase and vice versa. So the in/out of phase signals will never sound the same but you’ll know that your headphones are out of phase if the out of phase signal sounds cenetered and the in phase signal sounds like it comes from everywhere. When your headphones are out of phase all music you play will have an undefined stereo image and weird.

I will never again buy anything coated with rubber after my experience with a Radio Shack emergency radio which was not needed to be used for years and then when needed, a sticky mess! I first used straight white vinegar on a paper towel which worked a little but not enough, so then used hand sanitizer which is 66% alcohol on a very soft old cloth, that worked well and much faster. I would have finished with silicone or Armor All but didn't have it so put a little WD40 on the cloth and wiped the radio. During this process no black stuff came off on the rag but the sticky came off. Looks and feels fine now ... but will the rubber continue to degrade?

I feel your pain, and I'll be wary myself now, but it seems we can't avoid it all. For example, I have some admittedly-old headphones whose _cord_ has become very sticky. That really surprised me. A cord is always going to have to be flexible, so it's always going to be something like rubber or plastic. Of course, wireless is one solution there, but I don't think Bluetooth even existed when I bought those otherwise-excellent headphones.
@Detroit-Berlin
@Detroit-Berlin 3 ай бұрын
@@MikeAnn193 avoiding sticky rubber is next to impossible I fear, it’s not the rubber itself getting sticky, it’s the adhesive to make something ‘soft touch’. Some cords will have this and will become sticky, some are plain rubber/plastic and won’t become sticky. Also some rubber can just become hard and break or deteriorate.
