Fine! At least this engine has got a rudimentary propeller, in very contrast to those countless videos of engines running without any cooling at all.

Very pleased to see Caldwells paint scheme remembered, and also that the camo colors are 100% correct for the Darwin region.

The RAF initially wanted North American Aviation to produce P-40s for them under license from Curtiss. North American instead offered them a totally new design - the P-51Mustang.

Dad was an RAAF instrument fitter in WW2. Absolutely loved these "kites" as he called them. Said they were a dream to work on About half the time to change out instruments compared to British aircraft. Thanks Dad👌

I well remember these planes flying over the Nowra district in New South Wales, the home of the of the Fleet Air Arm. I well remember the big news in 1955 when an Auster took of from Bankstown airport without a pilot and after two failed attempts by the RAAF to shoot it down, the Navy despatched two Sea Furies to do the job! If you search youtube with words like runaway Auster or flyaway Auster you will be able to view a video of that episode.

Sounds better than original in my opinion. Nobody is ever going to change my mind. V8 is the best sounding engine variation. Fight with me argue with me, I don’t give a shit. V8 is better. Yall shit ain’t got nothin on no V8. Even one of the fastest cars, the Koenisgegg Jesko, is powered by a V8. AND GUESS WHAT BRAND! FORD! FORD, THE BRAND EVERYONE HATES FOR SOME DAMN REASON, PUSHED THAT THANG TO 300+ M.P.H!!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

While it might not have the bark of the big Bristol, that engine is keeping this gorgeous plane in the air. Hats off to all involved.

Love this modified Pitts. Years ago I had the privilege of talking with Steve Wolf about his first Wolf Pitts for an aerobatic pilot up in Oregon. Then, I got to watch Steve perform a routine in that little Pitts and I think it solidified my view on the genius of ole Curtis Pitts...

Ahh, Sea Fury ! I still remember when we had one in NZ such an awesome big sky display aircraft and the Centaurus Engine was remarkably quiet for such a large mill. Does anyone know if this has been re-engined or retains the Bristol Centaurus ?
@number1genoa
@number1genoa Ай бұрын
Ah, I see she is Wright Powered , a shame but understandable since spare sleeves for Centaurus engines are exceedingly rare apparently.
@Deviation4360
@Deviation4360 Ай бұрын
Having only ever heard a Centaurus 18 cylinder engine in person it is definitely a more richer range of melding tones as it flies through the sky. The P&W and Wright engines all have the american V8 kind of chugging sound even here with this example of tuned stack layout. It must have alot to do with the interspliced exhaust piping of the Centaurus and its twin porting per cylinder. All poppet valve stuff kind of sounds predictably alike by comparison.
