Being 6'4" 125 kg I can't even get comfortable in new 2024 Transit Custom (with a standard bulkhead) In 1983 when the new Freight Rover 350 Sherpa was launched I bought a brace of brand new 350 Sherpas because the driving position & driver comfort was second to NONE . We got rid of our year old 190 Twin wheel Transits & 350 Bedford CFs because the cramped driving positions were no match for the new roomy Sherpa 350s. Cramped driving position in T1 Mercedes @ that time was also another joke 🫣 All vans in them days had problems !! We changed over to the new 5 speed Sherpa' s with NO regrets whatsoever compared to 4 speed Transits & CF , Sherpa was big step forward in driving roomy comfort ( it had same roomy cab pressing as Leyland T45 4x4 army trucks) I got 10 years hard use from my own twin wheel 350 Sherpa chassis cab, I was always more than happy because it had loads more legroom than equivalent Transit , Merc or CF chassis cabs in 1983 That's a fact . That's why DAF bought Freight Rover .................. Because they wanted the Sherpa 350 platform rebadging it as the Successful European 400 LDV series in the 1990s. But the 1997-8 World economic crisis saw the DAF collapsed Eventually bought out by Paccar 😬

no first car is perfect if the price tag has more than 3 numbers
@DanielDrives8 күн бұрын
Do you think? It’s very hard to find a reliable, rust-free car now for sub £1000 unfortunately.
@toddsouthern95877 күн бұрын
@@DanielDrives I reckon its hard to find a particularly reliable car for less than 2 or 3, so Id just make sure you get good breakdown, check everything before long trips, and get something thats already had a few bumps so it doesnt feel the ones youll give it. then the money you save goes towards getting a nicer second car, not just another beater to replace the first when it breaks to bad
@valance279 күн бұрын
in my opinion the suspension is the most remarkable thing. In bumpy cities its just fine, I would say, a little bit too stiff. But on the autobahn its perfect, even at 150 kph it feels stable.

The Skoda Citigo is the best car I ever had for driving around on narrow, twisty country roads. It has such good "go-kart" like handling, rather like the old mini, but more sophisticated in design. The annoying computer "entertainment" gimmickry is kept to a minimum - at least by modern standards, and the performance of the 60bhp engine is surprisingly lively. Your video I thought was excellent in describing these and many other advantages!

I rented an UP! some while ago and was very impressed with it - the old cliche that it is all the car you need really applies. It felt really well made, tight and rattle free and was quite refined. As you said, it is more than just a good first car and I would consider one if I was in the market, but I'll keep my Fiat Panda 100HP for the time being. If I were forced to change, I'd probably go for an automatic but I'm not sure that the robotised manual that was offered with these cars is much good, I'd have to try one. I identify with your expression "not-so-smart-motorways" and the fact that the discredited NCAP keeps moving the darned goal posts!

Very rare without the wing - it was part of a recall to cure instability issues...! At the time, it seemed like every mk1 TT was that colour! Nice venue - could shoot other content there...;)
@DanielDrives2 ай бұрын
Yep, it was! Annoyingly it was after the video was filmed I properly discovered that. Yes… a certain C63 AMG would look nice against those doors 😉
@Glassey122 ай бұрын
Somebody will be no doubt correct me if I'm wrong, however I'm pretty sure that when the TT was originally released, within a year it had a recall due to high speed crashes on the autobahn and at least one in the UK. Early cars went back to Audi to have the wing fitted.
@DanielDrives2 ай бұрын
That’s true!
@JuanManuelTastzian2 ай бұрын
That's correct! But what happened I understand, is that the recall was a two step one. It consisted on rear suspension tweaks + a bit of extra weight on the rear, to make the tail a bit more stable, ESP, and the wing. What I heard is that the very early recall cars had to make two appointments. The first one with everything but the wing, and the second one with the wing, because they hadn't shipped from Germany yet. That's how some cars skipped the wing but got the other things that also help a bit with stability (my car is in this situation, as it has ESP but no wing). As long as you don't go crazy on autobahns at 180 km/h or more, should be fine (so, legal speeds should be no problem).
