Where that gap on the door is, if possible remove the shims that are in there and jack the stud over to the door frame. Then remove the screws from the striker one at a time and replace them with longer ones that can get into the studs. Will make it much more secure that way. Check your other doors as well. You want both sides to be against something solid. I replace the door hinge screws with longer ones as well. Makes them harder for someone to kick in.

You are looking cold. If you are putting in a furnace, get it installed soon. Unless you are waiting until summer, you're going to need heat soon for drywall finishing.
@This1LifeWeLive4 күн бұрын
Well we do have the furnace, and have a heat pump, but cannot run either because we do not have propane installed, and cannot until final grade is done :( But we might end up putting in a pellet stove ;)
@robertkent24664 күн бұрын
@This1LifeWeLive when I was building, I just had a propane salamander heater. The propane company installed a temporary tank and just ran a temporary hose from it. Later on they moved the tank and ran copper when we were ready. Maybe you can call another company.

@This1LifeWeLive4 күн бұрын
That's the problem . . . we DO . . . but because so many contractors have been in and out it gets moved toward the house and shoots the water BACK to the house :P It couldn't get buried properly yet (the end of it) as the final grade still has to be done. Everything is behind and now waiting on spring I guess :(
@ruralridez61654 күн бұрын
Once final grade is done it will run away from the house. That trench in the back is from the sky track.

best way to hang drywall is to hire it out but if you got no budget you gotta do everything your self. you gotta insulate interior walls also for sound. a lot of people make that mistake when building
@This1LifeWeLive11 күн бұрын
Since most of our walls are bedroom walls or laundry room, they will all be insulated :) Drywall was quoted at $24,000 (or more since it was an estimate based off the floor plan and not sight seen), and we really would rather use that amount for upgrading other areas of the house :D
@pipedope32911 күн бұрын
@@This1LifeWeLive i dont blame you. do the drywall and mudding yourself. its really not that hard just time consuming, especially when you get to the spakkle part

What are your plans when you finish this project?
@This1LifeWeLive11 күн бұрын
We have 30 days to move our doublewide off our property (township orders) after we get occupancy in the new house, so really it depends on who buys it. We have a few young family members eyeballing it (used ones are hard to find out here and new ones are over $100,000 for a singlewide I am told). So depending on time, maybe fix-up the doublewide a bit, or not, lol. We are NOT a building channel, so we are not planning to buiild half a dozen buildings on our property just to generate content ;) We will be moving into prepping the Christmas Tree farm with roads, and scenic areas and a gift shop (which will be a video series on that) and then likely turning the doublewide slab into some sort of workshop. Likely our Tree Farm will open in 2027, so most likely we will be doing a 12hr live feed of the farm similar to the Deer Sanctuary, so anyone feeling down or lonely during Christmas can tune-in and watch families having a good time :)

Too bad you couldn't afford to have someone come in to spray foam. You could have been finished in a few hours or less.
@This1LifeWeLive11 күн бұрын
Insulation wasn't too bad honestly (besides itching and coughing, lol), but our sprayfoam guys don't install it in the walls (they did at one point in their career but decided it was too big of a hassle).
@gordbaker89611 күн бұрын
Coming along well. Don't need the 'musik' . If it is possible, install 4' by 15" windows vertically in walls adjoining starwells to direct available light to the steps. Certain applications apply. Is that a cut in that ceiling joist at 23:00? Masks? Happy New Year.
@This1LifeWeLive11 күн бұрын
LOL YEP, it sure was! Not sure what happened there, but we caught it while installing the insulation in the ceiling. Actually we found two spots. We added sister boards to them ;)

Have Christmas tree farming in the family, just hope you folks realize it's a lot of work, there is spraying roundup to kill the grass under the trees, fertilizer, mow between rows, shaping, this has to happen every year. You can also make wreaths, good luck but a lot of work
@This1LifeWeLive10 күн бұрын
We are currently spending time researching and testing various other methods for maintaining the trees and streamlining work. One was using geese to mow around trees and fertilize. Another was using lawn mowing robots. We have also successfully regrown a tree from a stump, which means we can double our turnaround time now, and save young seedlings from drought stress or getting chopped by lawnmowers :) Farming is always work, but there are definite ways to streamline it and make things easier :)
