Thanks Garry , I had a good time that day. except for loseing that expensive fishing pole. I learned this spring that large male pre-spwan catfish can be found out on the flats agressevly feeding. this video was a small example of that.

yeh, that bite on the white pole was surely a 4 lb fish. it looked like he was hooked up for sure but no. I am going to publish my best spring fever series video on Dec 1 . I am fishing at Lake Monroe and I catch a lot of big cats in my boat.

Oh, I know. there were probably 5 nice bites that I missed on catfish off camera. if I could have gotten on it faster I think we could have had 5 catfish in the video.

Sounds great free fishing. come one come all. how about I just invite the entire high school fishing team down here while i'm at it . another thing is it is a liability if one of them drowned in that water while stealing my boat for a joy ride they could probably sue me. I have a locked gate with 2 no trespassing signs on it , but they still climbed the gate and came in without permission. No I don't need friends like that .

That is a cool name and I now know of two girls named Goldie.

I put in 265 in April of 2023 some of those are close to 4lb now. I put in 333 in April 2024 they are all about 1lb now. and there is exactly 598 catfish in the 8 acre pond. I'm putting more in this April 2025.

Hey, good tip . Robbyn and I were just looking at some new hooks and we were looking at some barbless dry fly hooks. I think I am gonna try out the small circle hooks.

Trout fishing wow that's awesome. I have never caught a trout, but there is a lake here called spring mill lake and DNR. sometimes stocks it with trout. people use corn for bait when fishing for trout in that small lake.

Great comment! I am glad you caught some fish. Chicken liver is a great catfish bait. and cat fishing is a great thing to teach your son I think you are doing it right.

Great comment! I struggle with chicken liver for bait. yes, it comes off when you throw it also small fish will nibble it away in no time under the water. My only answer is to keep checking and rebaiting every 30 minutes. It seems to catch more fish than any other bait but the struggle is real. when I get tired of fighting with the liver I use BJ's stinky bait it is a blood bait and stays on the hook well.

It seems to stay on the hook better if you can buy fresh livers at the grocery store too.

She out fishes me regularly with that pink pole and I don't mind that a bit. Robbyn is everything to me and it is a privelege to be her fishin buddy.

Altho I can bait a fishing pole he has always baited my hook and takes the fish off. He loves to spoil me!

Great comment Clark. The pond is 8 acres in size and the deepest point is 8 ft. with an average depth of around 4 ft. currently we are 18 inches below normal pool. I would say it is a shallow pond mostly. Water level has been an issue at the pond this year since the repair to the spillway it has not yet filled back up.

Thanks a lot for the answer. we are gonna experiment with some different types of hooks. Trying to find a hook that the fish don't swallow as much. That should be much better for the fish.

We are going to bring a big net for those grassers. and I already have a net for the catfish . I just need to remember to bring them with me . I love ho tht fish jumped out of the water when Robbyn first hooked it . and then she said "oh no" haaa. Yeh fer fishin !
