I rarely see someone cutting two coats. Do you do only two coats with rollers and cut once with the brush?

Cutting in a little more will help. It will help from accidental ceiling taps.

They need ones for how to fix how you went over when you don't have the paint.. can you? I'm still going to use tape because I don't have a way to practice.

Take off or loosen the switch plate and sockets and paint behind the edges of them! There will need to be a hell of a lot of white to cover up that blue when it gets on the skirtings!!

How do I avoid ending covered in paint? Everytime I roll a wall the paint "sprinkles" all over my arms, face, and floor
@bruschj2 ай бұрын
Not a pro but as someone who had that problem and worked past it, good quality brushes/rollers and good quality paint, and when you dip, make sure to roll off the excess, and don’t roll too fast!
@gemma38772 ай бұрын
Your clear instructions and reassuring tone made me believe I'd be great at this on the first try. 😂 Turns out that I need more practice, and did a lot of wiping paint off of other surfaces with a damp cloth. Picture a complete newbie to DIY, who's cack handed, a bit impatient, using watered down paint for a mist coat, which dribbly unless very thinly applied. Not sure why I was so confident I'd smash it, honestly! At least it was just white paint and easy to keep wiping off. No doubt practice will improve my technique. At least I got myself a good cutting in brush, so with thicker paint, and less absorbent walls, I might stand a chance.

I prefer using a 4inch roller when I’m cutting lay paint down bring it lower when I’m doing top cuts makes it easy for roller so they won’t have to get close to ceiling or baseboards

What if the ceiling is raw plaster with popcorn texture?
@williamfreeman6935Ай бұрын
Popcorn texture on plaster is an issue waiting to happen. Popcorn doesn't adhere well to begin with and if it's a plaster surface it makes it even worse. Needs to be sprayed using an airless sprayer. Too much paint and it could all fall off so two light coats is best. Go one direction on the first coat, let it fully dry (maybe even the next day) and go the reverse direction for coat number two. I've seen a few of these types of ceiling textures fail through the years. Just a warning. Good luck to you.
@AwesomeProjects20Ай бұрын
@@williamfreeman6935 Thanks! I painted the ceiling a month ago. After I watch this video. Two coats of Kiltz, then two coats of Behr semi-gloss Scuff paint. I blew the loose stuff down will and air hose, then primed it. I used a roller that is made of sliced foam. Specifically made for popcorn ceilings. The first primer coat knocked off more texture. Not so much the second coat. The paint locked it all in. Pieces will not fall down anytime soon.

Who paints their entire room and ceiling dark blue?
@penta-cera-tops3 ай бұрын
This is...not optimal. You should only roll in one direction and make sure the paint is going on without patches. The more pressure you apply the worse the paint will look when dried.

All you have to do is make a V with masking tape across the lip of the can, with the tip of the V intersection of the 2 pieces of hanging off past the lip of the can, then the paint will spill over the tape as you pour, and down the "spout" made by the tip of the V in the tape, clearing the can entirely, and leaving it clean. I found a minute long vid about it.
