I like to use those little 6 inch rollers to lay off when I cut in, that way when I roll the ceiling I have heaps of room to blend everything in

Yeah great unless you're painting fresh white paint over older white paint then rollering a ceiling is not fun. I've tried using the paint that goes on pink and dries white but that just makes my OCD brain explode.

What if the ceiling is raw plaster with popcorn texture?
@williamfreeman6935Ай бұрын
Popcorn texture on plaster is an issue waiting to happen. Popcorn doesn't adhere well to begin with and if it's a plaster surface it makes it even worse. Needs to be sprayed using an airless sprayer. Too much paint and it could all fall off so two light coats is best. Go one direction on the first coat, let it fully dry (maybe even the next day) and go the reverse direction for coat number two. I've seen a few of these types of ceiling textures fail through the years. Just a warning. Good luck to you.

@@williamfreeman6935 Thanks! I painted the ceiling a month ago. After I watch this video. Two coats of Kiltz, then two coats of Behr semi-gloss Scuff paint. I blew the loose stuff down will and air hose, then primed it. I used a roller that is made of sliced foam. Specifically made for popcorn ceilings. The first primer coat knocked off more texture. Not so much the second coat. The paint locked it all in. Pieces will not fall down anytime soon.

The real question is, why tf would you paint a ceiling dark blue?

I had the same thought. Nice painting but painting ceiling dark colour is bad choice

You are a saint and a scholar. My sister painted her bathroom blood red and when you spit toothpaste spit in the sink it looked like there was blood in your syliva

They're Australian, mate. Need a bit of darkness to balance off that bright accent.

It depends where you enter the room. Its always across the room from the doorway, never straight on. If the light hits the roller marks long ways its easier to see

Thats going to frame so bad especially with commercial big picture windows with 100% sunlight hitting it in the am … I never seen a painter roll the edges out 12” then roll it out the cut in you had was good already can you explain why this was your method I’m not knocking it but just from experience it normally leaves the corners darker and on second coat you don’t want to let that cut in dry normally will cut as I roll on big ceilings but it’s no perfect way for big ceilings anything bigger than 10*10 it’s a challenge and have to cut and roll on second coat if I cut whole ceiling roll the perimeter then fill the rest it’ll show darker around edges still just lmk man I’m interested to learn how this works for you especially on high end houses and commercial I’d try it but I’m scared I would have to roll 3 coats if that 12” boarder sets or gets tacky as you know it lifts the pain when laying off in big ceilings you have to roll into the last section and flick out off of it trying to roll into it and roll back out to flick and feather the edge lifts the previous rolled section on huge ceilings so I have to roll back into it and pull off which then the stippling of the roller is essentially different “ especially in big ceilings with nothing but natural light I did one 30* 20 ceiling and 3 coats later still seen where I rolled and flicked off into it so it wouldn’t pull it off I hate painting huge ceiling I’ll spray them anyway though all day 😩😂😤

High-end custom home painter for 38 years now. What you mentioned is 100 percent true. When he pre-rolled around that center light I was cringing. Even his (brush) pre-cut was way too wide.
