Just want to second the idea about putting these in fish tanks. I have 3 tanks 25, 55 and 75 gallons, I have pothos in all of my tanks and they all grow extremely well and look great across the top of the tank and down the side. Their leaves are think and a very rich green color. Real aquatic plants are can be pretty sensitive and hard to grow (at least for me lol) because the hardness and ph of the water have a big impact on that type of plant. My water is extremely hard and extremely high ph, I could treat it for my plants and fish but that just creates a bigger risk of messing it up, I feel like its better to just get them used to the water quality in the area. That said, pothos do not give a darn about that AND their root are extremely hardy so even my Geophagus Tapajos (red headed earth eaters), who are notoriously hard on live plants, do not cause any issues. Honestly Pothos has become my favorite live plant for my tanks, I've started to experiment with monstera.

I've got soil mites from some borrowed soil 🤷‍♂ previously I dealt with fungas gnats by mixing fresh soil with 2-3 tea spoons of neem cake -- haven't seen any since! (.....yet)

I enjoyed this video. I’m at the burnout stage. Once I learned how to propagate I also ended up with too many plants. I loved taking care of them until they got sick and then it was just a chore. I ended up throwing away almost all the plants and then I started over and it happened again. I think I need to give some away. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I grow my green pothos in water so it never lacks any of it. It is unkillable : I saved 5 dying cuttings that a tenant left behind for 4 months in an almost empty cup of rotting water, brought them home. I washed the rotten roots and placed them in fresh water. They were saved except maybe 1 or 2. Then I moved the small cuttings into a larger pond 26 then 30 cm and they grew wild : up to 2m - 3m long , crawling all over the place , climbing up a decorative wood board and on the wall by itself with its aerial roots, almost making a vertical green wall I trimmed twice and drastically the second time because it’s just invading the TV table even tho it’s in low light. Trim helped sprouting new shoots at the base and at the head so it doesn’t look so leggy. I propagated some branched cuttings with aerial roots in the water and they grow roots within 5 days. Even I don’t change the water for 8 months and the roots , the trunk were rotting , it was still thriving like nothing happened. I cut the roots and plopped it back into water and it grows new roots like nothing happened. So in worst case scenario : if you can’t save a pothos in soil, propagate cuttings with aerial roots in water : it will survive ! I also cut the philodendron micans and lemon lime to move them into water cuz the roots of the philodendrons in soil just wouldn’t stop rotting and they keep dying. In water they survive. I give them 3 grain of fertilizer in 5L of water and roots booster diluted at 10%, no more because the pothos doesnt appreciate high doses of fertilizer, the leaves start to burn. The Philodendron can take 50% dilution, no problem I will switch soon to a fertilizer for monsteras , aroids that is suitable for hydroponics to feed them better. Hope it helps

@@wildliferox2 Chloramines won't gas off into the air unfortunately, I'm looking into a water conditioner - looks like the most cost effective is for ponds. Who knew? Will try cuttings again and see if this why they always do so poorly! Thanks for the reply! Cheers

One precaution. If using a bottle spray for neem oil, ensure that you immediately pour out any remaining neem oil solution in your sprayer. Otherwise, the neem oil will solidify in your sprayer mechanism and it will no longer spray. It is impossible to clean. You will be required to discard it.

My hypotesis is that the ones that grow directly in soil reach the capacity of space much faster, while the ones in water because of stress of lack of nutrients, when moved to soil have an explosive growth. Either way, their growth will be eventually limited by space and nutrient availability.

To prevent the cutting leaves sinking into the water, you can place a piece of cardboard onto the glass jar with holes for the stem cuttings. It's easy then to lift cardboard when you need to add more water :)
