I really enjoyed your video, and I appreciate you sharing it. I remember seeing your watch advertised in Scientific American back in 1994. I have a beautiful 5M42-0860 diver's Seiko kinetic from 1996 that I haven't used much because it stops overnight. I used to wear other watches, but I would love to start using this one again. I noticed that you mentioned that one can replace an old capacitor with a modern lithium-ion chemical battery. Do you think this is possible in case my capacitor needs to be replaced?

My original 45gs wears smaller than the 57gs due to the compact shape. I haven't seen the reissue so can't comment on that.

I am trying to get a Seiko Kinetic Perpetual for the technology of reserving the energy for 4 years. It's no longer made. I located one SNP080P1 @ INR43800. Is it 4 years energy reserve as claimed? Should I get it for the technology sake as for this price we could get much better looking dress watches today. Please suggest

Hi i have seiko snp022p1. Already used it for 13 years. This year i started to face a few problem. The date wont work and timing become late. It late almost 1 hours minutes everyday. Is that a capacitor problem?? Do i need to change it?

I can agree and disagree 😃 Dive watches are more comfortable with rubber strap! They are designed for them! No doubt! When I bought my first dive watch I have options to take it with rubber strap or stainless steel bracelet. I choose the strap because it's just felt right to me. And it was also cheaper than the metal one. But in time I noticed that the strap traps dirt, sweat and cleaning is big headache! Especially at the summer when it's hot and we sweat a lot! So I decided to buy a metal bracelet and give it a try. In terms of cleaning and style is better than the rubber BUT it's not more comfortable 😅 Both rubber and metal have advantages and disadvantages! I usually wear my dive watch at work with suit and I get both compliments for the rubber and the metal bracelet. But I still prefer RUBBER strap! It's classic!

Hello! I'm asking about my 7D48 is it possible to change the Calendar through the 2-Second position of crown "as we set the time", or only through the first position?

This is way, way over kill. If the case doesn't say made in Japan on the bottom, if the battery doesn't say made in Japan on it and if the letters ABS isn't stamped in the bottom of the battery compartment, then it's a knock off.

Never serviced. Very accurate other than a time period when it sat unused for years. It soon recovered its accuracy through regular use.

I have this watch, and im pretty sure it is sapphire crystal. Im not 100% . I wore it for 15 years straight and the crystal has no scratches.

Thank you for this vlog. Now instead of saving up so much to buy a Grand Seiko. id buy a bulova with precisionist now. It's not as smooth as a spring drive. But it only needs battery replacement every 2 years. An easy DIY for me.

Had a Seiko auto relay kinetic watch in storage for a few years. The second had was stuck on 15, which apparently means a deep sleep state. This has just revived it perfectly, thanks a lot

Hey so I just did your method of cutting the brown wire, yes it turned on & throws out cold air fine but only for about 20 minutes then the air stops blowing out. The air conditioner stays on and makes noises as if it was throwing out cool air … but it’s not. I’m afraid of the ac blowing up because it’s on (engine sounds are running) but no air at all comes out. What should I do? Why is this happening?

You might have a separate issue with the blower motor or capacitor. However it won't blow up so no worries on that account

I am from India and I used a citizen wing quartz watch for more than 25 years and it maintained a very high accuracy. It works but i am unable to use now as the crown comes out, the day and date are not sitting perfectly ( the day indicator is in abbreviated English and probably Japanese).well parts do wear out, so its acceptable. But i would love to have my watch restored to the condition at the time i bought it. Well, if citizen is watching, can i have some lead. Thanks

Any respectable watchmaker should be able to fix the down problem and by the way you describe it I think it's a quick fix. It may be harder to find a good watch repairer as they don't have much business. Quartz watches don't need any maintenance so your watch is good to last for a long time.

That's not good! Use a pin to pop open the pins on the adjustment buckle.

Maybe you just haven't had a high quality, well fitted bracelet? Paired with quick adjust system, it's the safest way to wear any watch. And makes watch look complete, if bracelet design matches case.

Good points and I am in agreement. The bracelet is definitely the safest way and with integrated designs they do complete the look. I do like certain bracelets in my collection (jubilee, oyster and nautilus are some examples) but by and large the strap is the way I use on most of my watches. I like the contrast and the well worn look after a few years/decades of using straps.

@@DesignReviews I have over 60 natos and rubber straps for my 13 watches. Seiko Prospex bracelets spent years in a box, and I wore my watches on rubber and nato. First bracelet that made me want to wear it was on Bulova Moonwatch, but it was impossible to adjust it perfectly. But after receiving Uncle Seiko bracelet for Baby Alpinist, I want to put most of my watches on such quality bracelets. Of course, rubber is perfect for day to day wearing and work on a beater, but if I only had to have one nicer watch, it would be on a bracelet.

Watching your Watches banging each other describes how you take care of your watch. So yeah it will not look good. Yes you need to wear your watch but you also need to be carefully wear it 😅

Hi, I recently bought this ‘the citizen’ watch which is set in Japan standard time +14 hours ahead of my timezone. Being that this is a perpetual calendar I wanted to ask if it’s possible to move the hour hand back 14 hours to the previous day without damaging the movement? I just want to make sure the date mechanism wont be damaged by going back instead of forwards.

You can't damage the mechanism. It's not physically possible to damage the date gears by moving the hour hand.
