I got a 2012 boston whaler 130 ss and it didn’t plane with 2 people. I got a hydrofoil which did help but still wouldn’t plane with 4 people. Then I got a 4 blade prop which still has trouble to plane with 4 people. Do you know how else I could improve it?

That steering tube is crying out for some grease. Wipe old stuff off the stainless bar/rod and unscrew that black plastic cap, on the right hand side of the tilt tube. check there is a wiper seal inside the cap, they wear and split. Replace if required. So clean the steering rod by turning the steering wheel and fully extend out the steering out any dry old grease. pack the inside of only the plastic cap with Quicksilver extreme grease. Note the grease nipple in the middle of the tilt tube is not for steering lubrication just lubes the outside of the tilt tube and only helps up/down trim/tilt motion nothing to do with left and right turning of your motor. Good luck 👍

Hi Carson, This is Bob in Long Island. We had spoken awhile back about my 2003 17 Montauk. The boat is still available and I have greatly reduced the price. The engine is not running right and needs a water pump. I have the water pump but don’t have the time to fix it. It definitely needs a tune up also or something. I ran it for the prospective buyer and it ran terrible. Then the water pump stopped pumping. I was asking 20k, but now I only want 15k. (Negotiable). I basically just want it gone. I don’t really have the room for two boats in my yard. Please let me know if you are still interested. Thanks

@@ZoneTelevision both are great Boats! The 150 is just smaller, less horsepower, and handles slightly worse than the 170. The difference is really small. I like both boats, but for many people, it comes down to pricing.

Carson...Here's a thought: Put the ball on the front of the tractor for launching and hauling. At Essex Marina, that's how they do their Valet Launch Service. With a fork lift, instead of a tractor. Makes it super easy. What do you think?

We just ordered a 2025 170 Montauk with the 115 Merc. I think it's almost the perfect boat for actual boaters - the others in their big ego vessells are "look at mes" and partiers. THis class of Whaler keeps you close to the water, in sync with nature and can take you many places.
