if you bought the Beat Surrender single or EP and didn't know it already, Shopping definitely heralded the end of The Jam. Beautiful, poignant and most definitely the end of an era.

This song was made in 1985 and I was on it (one of the angelic voices). It was recorded in Eltham and was a charity song, raising money for a local hospital’s scanner unit. The children featured were all Cub Scouts or Brownies from the Royal Eltham district. I still have the record on 7”. Although released, it was only sold in local record shops, so didn’t hit any dizzying heights in the charts - although in Our Price I think it was no1 for local sales in the high street branch! Hope this helps with some additional background. Love the video you made for it! Thank you for digitising the song, its brought back some memories for me.

This was released around the time of the fading New romantic movement and they took themselves very seriously 😊 Scratch beneath the glorious silliness and the three of them made cracking great music!

They had me at Shala lalal Lee. With "All or Nothing" I was completely entranced. You know, when a song expresses exactly how you feel . Loved the raw , sparse instrumentation and the sheer passion in Steve Mariott's voice. There hasn't been a better one, there never will be!
