I think keiki is the human embodiment of what an apparition is, in some ways. The more you believe in his lies, the more caught up in his web you get and the more danger you could end up in. However, if you ignore him, he's no more of a threat than the average man.

Kaiki's opinion on the fake is one of my favorite quotes from the series, love the parallels between it and Paarthurnax's iconic quote- "What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?"

This video was so incredibly well done man... I mean the explanation...that was the most beautiful thing ever. It explained so many things I did not consciously notice but which had an emotional impact on me, however once put into words you only realize how GREAT of a character okabe actually is. I loved the anime. But there were and still are so many questions. This video is so unbelievably underrated. Only thing I am missing to top the entire video and to underline the sacrifice of okabe...(in my opinion its not about insanity. But more about sacrifice. This character did sacrifice it all). And at the end, as far as I have read, he sacrificed himself as well. is that right? As far as I have read, the okabe we see at the very end isnt the same okabe that made all the sacrifices. Apparently there is a difference between the okabe at the very end and the okabe that went through all that trauma. I dont know if that is correct, which is why I will probably watch the anime for the 3rd time very soon. The hypothesis or theory I have read said something along the lines of in order to create the "perfect" world, he himself had to lose all memory of all these years. So he would sacrifice himself, so another okabe could live in the steins gate timeline with the people he loved most. Essentially, if that is true it means that not only did okabe go through ALL THAT...but he would also not even get the reward at the end. Instead, an okabe would get rewarded, that didnt EVER go through all that. No sure if that theory is correct. But the thought of it is definitely intrigueing. Great video! Have a good one

I love apathic characters in anime. It always gets me in some kind of weird mood.. Very dark, focussed and powerful. It feels kinda nice. Has anyone seen Grisaia no Kajitsu and it's sequels? I felt like Yuuji the protagonist is quite apathic as well. I came to really understand him better after the part about his past.

I feel apathy in the sense that I loose interest everything I try out or liked at some point. I feel a sense of indeference to things in which I don't wanna put afford into anything anymore and a sense of passive nihilism where I question the purpose of anything. Luckily there is one thing which I am quite consistent at, that being working out and weight lifting.

This video convinced me to watch classroom of the elite - and I was blown away. In certain parts, (you can probably guess which parts this WASN'T the case in) Ayanokoji felt like... me. It felt like I was being read like a book, which was indescribable. Of course, as said before, not everything was like that, but especially towards the start, he was very similar to me. Whether I am smart enough to be like him is unknown, but honestly that doesn't matter to me. In terms of his strategies, they were pretty easy to figure out beforehand, and I am assuming that most people would agree with me, which makes you think that he isn't *really* smart. He is stated to be smart, but his actions could be predicted after a couple of seconds, when he might have had much longer to adapt. Idk, just some ramblings I guess.

Apathy is also displayed extremely well through the character of Kanao Tsuyuri in Demon Slayer. Because of her miserable, abusive past, she completely broke and struggled to feel any emotion whatsoever. As the series goes on, however, she's motivated and emboldened by the friends and family beside her and manages to slowly be able to feel more and connect more over time. It's done very beautifully.

Very interesting and detailed analysis! I don't see apathy as a subject that's covered all that often in anime analysis videos (at least I don't think?) I think to some extent, yeah, everybody feels apathetic sometimes and experience the different types of apathy (the kind you feel due to loneliness vs the kind you feel because something is too easy, like playing on Very Easy mode in a video game). In the field of psychology we refer to apathy as "emotional blunting" which can result from Depression and other mental illnesses. As someone who suffers from Depression and who has also struggled with fitting in, i can definitely relate. I can relate to the apathetic feeling you get when things are too easy, too (sorry, I'm not trying to come off as arrogant). In school I became apathetic because I didn't think anybody really liked me or wanted to be my friend. For the most part I avoided others, kept to myself, and yeah I remember how it felt. I'm lucky to have found some good friends anyway that put in the effort to get to know me despite my lack of trying. Still I remember how it felt, walking around the playground at recess when those few good friends weren't around, or being in gym class and not having a gym partner, or simply preferring to just walk around the track the entire class time instead. I don't know whether or not my classmates truly thought I was weird or whether they were actually actively avoiding me, but that didn't matter because, whatever the reality of the situation, I perceived them as not liking me. And that led to me isolating myself, and feeling resentment towards my peers. I'm ashamed to say, I was rather immature back then. I partially coped with my loneliness by looking down on my classmates, thinking I was smarter and more mature than them. I put the blame on them for my lack of social skills, when maybe that wasn't really fair. Maybe my classmates didn't dislike me, maybe they didn't think I was "weird" or "annoying". But I'll never know, because I just retreated further into myself instead of trying to reach out. Sorry haha, I didn't mean to go off on a tangent or make this all about me. Anyway, I guess moral of the story is don't assume automatically that people don't like you or that you don't have a chance with someone. You'll never know until you try, or as basketball player Wayne Gretzky said "You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take." If I could do it again I think I would try a little harder to connect with my peers and make more friends.

Eren and eldians are very fuckin relatable if your black bc not to the shows stakes but scarily close millions apon millions of our people where stolen and even before that have been persecuted by the rest of the world for something we couldn’t change our skin not for violence or anything just our skin was enough for us to be deemed less then human and demonized and murdered and ALOT of people to this day still hold these feelings and lies they have been told we live in a country that unfairly bias towards us and still there is little to no justice and our own government has put missions and plans together to spite and poison us,to kill us,to enslave and inprison us,they have even put people within our communities that have ultimately lead to decline and destruction of our communities and it was all purposeful and it can cause apathy to stay sane to all of this the only thing i can say is atleast the government gave eldians peace because of power they had and the destruction they could cause they atleast had some peaceful years tho in real life for all black people in this world there is no great power we have that could give us that peace no ability that would even purpose liberation for us…

Apathy to me is not an emotion, but rather a result of the hardships you may face in life. A stoic foundation that could turn extreme if left to grow and fester. A coping mechanism that can act like a sword to the people around you, but you yourself view it as a shield. "Why are you so calm?" Someone has to be. "How come you don't show emotion?" Showing emotion is either good or bad depending on the person, there are no absolutes. "You probably just don't care" If I didn't, then I would've gave up sooner. This is not an emotion, this is a mindset. And an unhealthy one if not cared for. Just be aware that if you have someone in your life has the thoughts that I described, don't try to completely get rid of their philosophy. It's there for a reason.

If I where given godlike powers I would never grow bored. I have wisdom so apretiate the calm and dont want anything out of the ordinary. Its interesting how most people dont want to live a normal life until they expierience a bunch of problems and wish they could go back to living normally. For me godlike powers would just solve all my problems and I would then exist in a state of peaceful bliss (when I dont go out having fun being able to do literally anything I want).

If you actually do feel emotions and if you're not a Hollywood actor, don't fake being apathetic, because 1. It is really obvious that you're faking it, like obvious to a point it's hilarious, especially if you've met actual apathetic people before, and 2. It serves no purpose other than to make you look like a moron.

What a great breakdown video! I watched an interview segment of the mangaka for Attack on Titan. He was describing why he created such a story and how he relates to Eren the most, putting much of himself into the character, or projecting (in the way you used the term). His words were very dark, but they touched my heart, along with his facial expression. He is a great example of real-to-life apathy, AND he directly weaved it into Eren Jaeger, even before the character's apathetic transition in season 4.

detachment is not apathy , detachment is actually the opposite of apathy and you can read psychology studies about it ( I think there's even a video from Dr. K). There are lots of characters who are just detached and not apathetic (like ayanokoji kiyotaka).
