The main relay on my 1998 CRV was in the same place but was botht he fuel pump AND the furl injection. It was two relays mounted on a board. The board got hot and desoldered some of the connections. A dab of solder on all the pins on the back of the board and it was good for another 300K miles.

Man I'm a new oner of a 2001 crv the guy said it runs so good and clean and ten 20 miles into driving shuts off..ten to 20 min. Later it'll start up run great again...I bout it just changed the main .I'm waiting test drive I'm nuvis and little bit skard for it to die ..I've seen and read all comments. So I need faith I'm going test it now ..I do have faith it's fixed .

Gotta add a other possible reason for shutting down. While driving thru Charlotte at 80mph car shut down ,thought wife had somehow pressed remote(no clue why I thought this would shut engine down) but it turned out after Honda had car FOR A WEEK traced it to my Ziebert remote starter,for whatever reason remote starter messed with ignition communication! 2015 Honda Odyssey

Iam having same issue driving for 30 minutes car just shuts off. Did yours start back up after 5-10 minutes?

hi, having the same problem with my 04 CRV. when i drive for about an hour or so, my VSA light and /!\ light turns on and my car completely cuts power. However all the electricals are still on. Could this be the same issue?

You're funny I replace my main relay and I still have the same problem I replace my gas tank my fuel pump sending unit my distributor my wires spark plugs the whole entire ignition switch with the harness and it still shuts off randomly

I have a question if anyone knows...I hear my fuel pump come on and I checked the fuel pump fuse and its good..does that mean the relay can still be bad?

I went and picked up the part and the car ran for 7 hours straight and didn't cut off until I shut it off. Before I could only run the car for 45 - 60 minutes before it shuts off. Thank You KatCanDo

My Honda would not start sometimes after I cut it off look and see if your check engine light comes on when you turn the key on if not then the main relay is probably bad

Could this same thing cause the vehicle to temporarily not start, not turn over, no ignition click as well? I had my CRV turn while driving a few months back and it wouldn’t start. Got it towed the next day and it started right up no issues. Replaced the ignition switch but twice more I’ve had it be unresponsive after driving it. No crank, no click but lights and everything works still. After it sits for awhile it starts right up like nothing ever happened and runs like a dream.

My Prelude is doing the same thing right now. Is there a way to diagnose before replacing?

I have the same problem with my 99 Honda Accord ex, turns off with & without ac on, ac barely works & I've changed everything you mentioned except the ignition switch, & main relay.

How can you tell if that's the problem before changing it if it's not the problem?

Hi Bentley. I was having a similar issue. Your video was a major facilitator in resolving it. In short, I went to the junk yard and paid 3.50 for a relay and the vehicle did not shut down on me when it reached operating temperature. It was my second effort at the problem as I initially cleaned the injectors. The prior owner had already changed plugs, wires and a portion of the distributor. When I saw your video, I felt strongly that this was the problem: it just made sense in explaining what was happening. These parts stores, in my opinion, are a little over eager to sell parts. Thank you for getting out the information and my empathy for all the troubles that you experienced. Know that your sacrifice has helped me and others. I hope that gives you some solace. Ben

I got a 2001 CRV they just stole all the while driving down the highway.When I tried to start it everything lights up the The starter wines and tries to turn over but I just won’t..Does that sound anything like what happened to you

I think I'm having this problem now because, I changed the oil gaskets because they were old and I had a oil problem also I changed the battery and coolant top piece

This did not work on my crv , my brother told me it was the cable connecting from the main relay to the inside of the vehicle but I’m not sure where to find it .

Would this issue cause the battery light to come on right after it dies?
