What about setting frequency to specific like 432hz? Anyway great review and device. Must get one now.

Great video! I saw one come up for cheap on FB. But no midi is tough. But the sound is nice tho
@JoshIsMakingMusic7 күн бұрын
Thank you! Honestly, a reissue of this with midi could be sweet, but like you said, it's a tough sell without that capability.
@jdlcmusic7 күн бұрын
@@JoshIsMakingMusic I've decided to let it go. I have many synths, that I need to master first anyway. A modern reissue would be sweet. One day I'll get a Moog!

used to run the arpeggiator & auto bass thru lots of distortion and delays in a noise goth band... and lemme tell yeah... it sounded super gnarly and HUGE.

Really cool sound Josh, actually sounds better than an actual Pedal that’s made to give that particular sound, (at least I thought so)

Got one from the Sharper Image store. Thought it would make me a rock star. Not quite, but I did have a blast playing with this many nights when I was supposed to be doing homework. Wish I had not sold it.

I’ve been lusting over this synth since its release and finally had the opportunity to purchase one this week. I found a local 16 for $800……I LOVE IT!!!

thumbs up on this. just picked up the cousin of this one (the 560) which is the same but with an added drum and rhythm synth chip for $20 at an estate sale. having fun figuring it out now :). absolutely agree with you, you can find pcm synths from the 80s at yard and estate sales for cheap if you’re patient

I was very surprised at the depth of the sound shaping possibilities of this thing. Originally,I bought my MT68 with the intention of doing some circuit mods and tinkering. Years later, I’m still perfectly happy playing it as-is - sometimes adding some pedal effects. I posted a spacey improv jam w this and a Hologram Microcosm back when I first got mine kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIKplI1mhd-EfsUsi=i6et306fFueOJCg1

the PO was incredibly hard to use IMO, as a beginner. volca was easier, and it works like the other volcas so if you have one, you sort of know them all.

Beautiful, how much of these sounds and effects have been done with just the chompi and not the generation loss?
@JoshIsMakingMusicАй бұрын
Thank you! And most of it is Chompi, a bit of dirt and warmth added by the Gen Loss.
@harbours.Ай бұрын
@@JoshIsMakingMusic I've been heavily debating buying a Chompi, but I have no musical ability. It just looks like so much fun to play around with and the sounds you can create sound awesome.
@LaChona420kАй бұрын
@@harbours. Check out the torso s4 for a good sample Mangler. The chompi is literally copium material. Or if you want the form factor and concept, save the money for an OP1 field. What ever you are going to waste on the chompi, put it in a piggy bank and wait til you have enough for something you will actually use.

@JoshIsMakingMusic Yes. I was only joking. It sounds weird hearing SEEZEE. Obviously lots of differences between UK and US. The CZ5000 was the synth I learnt to sequence on in 1986 - 1990. They had 2 in school. A friend had the CZ3000 with the sequencer I think. I remember you could only use one note per track? For chords you had to use 3 out of the 8 tracks?

Hi, is it possible to save pattern and songs inside rx17 ? I can't find any information about this. I mean if the pattern and song which you created will be still here after power off and on again. Regarding the manual the only way to do this is save an audio file on a cassette player and then load it again (hu, what...) ?

Took me a couple of years to get one after the Digitakt (that I absolutely love), I am still leanning but have been very happy with the two units working in tandem. You also can route midi CCs to one of the internal tracks to mangle a track (live for example) - then just reload it to get back to the original. Regarding portability there are some adapters that you could plug on an external usb-c battery. Not Deluge-like portabilitt but still (also way cheaper). I personally like to *not* have USB to power the thing, which in my experience tends to be noisy or to require a separate power source... Also for FM... the Volca FM 2 is pretty good, 6 voices - but limited controls/filters etc. And finally, with the Digitakt 2 just released having more steps, channels etc. I wouldnt be too surprised if a Digitone 2 was being worked on somewhere in Sweden... which means that the OG model could maybe be found for cheaper in a bit ? Who knows.

This one is the original OP-1 and not the OP-1 Field, the original goes for around $650-$800 used! I agree, the $2000 is priced prohibitively.
