A great video, well done and thank you. My experience with my version has been terrible, the video quality is atrocious and nowhere near as good as yours even though I’ve triple checked the best settings. To make matters worse, it’s been nearly a month of going backwards and forwards with Insta360, them sending me the same emails and stalling for time, even though I’ve sent them footage which clearly shows there’s something wrong with the camera, and still I’m just getting a basic auto response email. I accept the odd camera can be faulty, what I can’t accept is the way that Insta deal with a customer who has a track record of buying lots of products through them. This combined with sponsor declaration issues are leaving a very bad taste. I’m coming to the conclusion that this is a company that should be avoided.

Which one best Sony ZV e10ii or Sony FX30
@DavidZhouКүн бұрын
Objectively, I think the FX30 is better if you're looking for all of the features that make creating incredible images as easy and efficient as possible. But, I'd argue you could just about produce the same images with either camera, given the fact that they share basically the same sensor. If you're looking to produce content for yourself and want to save some money, then go with the ZV-E10II, if you're producing content for clients and want less potential headaches, I would go for the Sony FX30.

What is your main lens you use for vlogging?
@DavidZhou2 күн бұрын
For this trip, I brought a Tamron 20-40 f/2.8 and I also used the Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM as well!
@DavidZhou2 күн бұрын
The tighter angle shots with more compression/shallower depth of field was the Sony 50mm f/1.4 GM :)

Would you recommend the sony zv e1 24mm f/1.4 combo for a beginner in videography (shooting music videos, short films and/or documentaries)?
@twintwin85552 күн бұрын
...or should I go for a zoom lens?
@DavidZhouКүн бұрын
Ooh that's a tough one... if you could only have one lens... Here's why, I HAVE shot FULL projects on just the 24mm f/1.4. It's of course project and location dependent, but I find that the 24mm focal length is a field of view that I really like. But, if you want to shoot a VARIETY of projects, then a Zoom is just better value because it can offer you a variety of looks and that's invaluable for storytelling.

Does this lens do well with close ups? not too close but just enough to not show too much background/landscape?
@DavidZhouКүн бұрын
@@twintwin8555 I use the f/1.4 wide aperture to blur the background as a way to take focus away from the background and put it on the subject, but you wouldn't really want to get a super close-up with the lens due to physical distortion of your subject. But you could use something like the Clear Image Zoom to accentuate the focal range of the lens by up to 1.5x!

What lens would you recommend I use with this camera for shooting concerts and vlogging?
@DavidZhouКүн бұрын
The Sony 10-18 f/4 has always been a fantastic vlogging lens! For concerts however, you'll probably benefit from something with a wider aperture if they're dark indoor concerts/evening concerts.

I have been looking at youtube videos of this camera models to check the native audio of the camera without an external microphone. Unfortunately, your video is not the one who provided that for me. I am not subscribing to your channel. I went directly to the stamp of video quality....except that it didn't give me any sample of video quality of the camera. I want my three minutes back.

How is the vignetting on this lens when shooting wide open? Some say there´s quite some vignetting going on but I can´t see much of that at all in your shots? Do you still use this lens? Can´t decide between this lens or a Sigma Art 40mm 1.4, what would you get?

If you want to get the a7 IV, I may push you towards the ZV-E1 as a starter camera first. It's more expensive BUT it's full-frame, meaning you can get full-frame lenses from the start to build that kit. Then, once you do get your a7 IV, you can always use them as A/B cams for each other if necessary with less hassle. I've mixed and matched APS-C w/ Full-Frame footage and it's fine, but it's a lot easier when it's FF to FF or APS-C to APS-C.

If you’re trying to get into photography and/or filmmaking, the E10 II is beginner friendly but also has a pretty high ceiling of quality for you to take advantage of!

Super helpful, thanks :) As it only takes 2 filters - could you add a screw on filter to the lens, then add the matte box? So you could have a pro mist on the lens, then the 2 NDs in the mattebox for example
@DavidZhouКүн бұрын
Theoretically possible yes, I had to think about that one a bit haha. If you attach a filter to your lens (that has a forward/external thread, allowing you to stack more filters), then you can screw the clamp adapter ring onto the filter that's attached to your lens. THEN, you'd clamp the matte box to the clamp adapter ring. Your mileage may vary depending on your specific setup, but theoretically yes (just be careful not to accidentally bind those filters together from all of those different threads tightening down).
@matt.bantonКүн бұрын
Awesome thanks for the info! I appreciate its not designed to be used like that. But good to know it could potentially work :)

Great review David! Do you power your hand grip from the d-tap port of your v-mount? I deperately want to do this but im worried I'll damage my DJI system if I do!
@DavidZhou6 күн бұрын
I haven’t tried it because I was just running off of the grip battery BUT I think you should be okay if you use a proper D-TAP to USB-C converter. I just tested it out and it does charge the hand grip (but of course I’m not 100% sure if it would cause issues in the long run, my intuition says no but your mileage may vary). This is the converter I’m talking about btw! amzn.to/4dCbHqh I imagine this one would work as well as long as the cable length is good for your setup: amzn.to/3MuyV5O

@DavidZhou6 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t consider the Osmo Pocket 3 a toy, it’s a less powerful piece of gear but it definitely has scenarios it would excel in depending on your use case. Same reason I wouldn’t vlog with a Sony Burano even though it’s better than the ZV-E1 😂
