wow...it looks really cool...it's amazing the amount of editing that goes on from the original drum machine haha...my favourite sound is the combo of microtonic and with a bit of eq before chucking on a Filterbank plugin...mate it sounds solid to me...really stompy...definitely a more raw sound though, inspired by the hardcore kicks of today...

i tried to make a hardstyle kick, after 9 hours i realized it was completely bad so i started over. HHz speaks the truth, ears will fool you, i thought my kick was awesome, but after taking a step back and hearing references, i realized i fooled myself. i become very depressed shortly after that and took me a week before i could even look at Ableton again.

Why does he use so many EQs? Does it sound different than if he just used a couple or even just one? Why cut frequencies just to add them back?
@ShreekDj8 жыл бұрын
Sounds different! It''s weird but effective.
@AnymMusic8 жыл бұрын
you EQ the distortion. not the kick itself. so every distortion EQ makes it sound different I think

Can somebody name all of the plugins he used to overdrive the kick? Can't see it :p. Not a logic user myself. I know he is using the clip disto and channel eq tho.
@TheDonkerOfficial10 жыл бұрын
to name ALL of them you have to be in the studio with him and ask him to open the project and write down the plugins in order. There are multiple several ways to make a kick, this is one of them. OFC - hardware plugins are used in the final result -if u make the amount of money HHZ does, you will be able to get them aswell :) Also check Frontliners, Donkey Rollers, and even Toneshifterz tutorials if you want to copy a kick and dont make a kick of your own and learn how to make them by yourself, - as said they all work different but with the same "ground".

What are you talking about donker ? He doesn't use any hardware device to make his kick.. and even if he uses that you don't need it to achieve this kind of kick.. of course making kicks is really really difficult because you need experience and trained ears.. BTW the plugins he used in this video is Sonnox inflator to avoid clipping.. but it's very expensive.. you can use the logic's one bitcrusher as clipper ( it does the same things ).. other plugins used are : Channel eq, sonnox inflator(but you can use bitcrusher), gain, clip distortion <3,platinum verb, gate, linear phase eq( for precise cutting) and drumazon (for 909 emulator) as you can see no hardware, no third party plugins needed ( except drumazon ( but you can download a 909 kick from web ).. you just need Logic ( but someone can do this with any DAW ) and a lot of experience ----byeeee

Well he says in this tut that he processes the kick through a hardware tapedistortion to get character. Ofc u don't need hardware stuff... thats not what i meant. Also: If u dont use Mac i suggest Venm vst, a clip distortion made for Windows.

If you want more crunch in your Kick you should use 'WhiteNoise Stereo distortion' you will get good reasults and you will be able to make it lot more harder then the normar clip distortion IZotope trash gives u.

If you dont have Clip distorsion in Logick. Take izotope TRASH and give it setting - CLip distorsion ;)
@Victor2daVazquez11 жыл бұрын
true you get kinda the same as you would with clip distortion
@PhadeZMusic11 жыл бұрын
or get venm since it has all the features of logics clip distortion. the main special thing about logics clip distortion is the simmetry fade which venm emulates.
@Victor2daVazquez11 жыл бұрын
true the symmetry usually isn't the same well on every different vst or au or plugins you get different things but not the same (no shit sherlock) lol but sometimes camel phat is better than logic's clip or trash sometimes its better for kicks than clip and camel audio some distortions are clean some are rowdy some add more presences well you get the point but you don't need clip distortion to make kicks just eq distort eq distort reverb band pass and eq then tweak lol but dont give up and dont forget to distort hard on the begining
@PhadeZMusic11 жыл бұрын
the point about venm and clip dist is just that they have that symmetry fader to change not just the dist's but also the waveforms symmetry which makes them so unique compared to other distortions

I'm reading the comments and there's always a discussion/argument over DAW's and Fruity Loops (FL Studio) is often hated on the most lol I started on FL Studio years ago. It served it's purpose, it got me started in computer music, electronic music, whatever you like to call it. I tried Sony Acid, Cake Walk, Reaper, and Ableton, and stuck with Ableton. You just can't compare FL Studio to Ableton. Ableton is far superior to FL, imo. You can get something decent done in FL, but after a long while your tracks start to suffer. I know people that have used it for years and swear it's the best and their tracks all sound the same. It's not a true DAW, in my own opinion. I use Renoise and Ableton 9, mostly Renoise now as it's much, much faster, and just all around a more efficient program over any DAW, but only if you use it correctly. FL Studio is most definitely a starter DAW...
@VHSDreamsofficial11 жыл бұрын
Many producers use FL studio like Andrenalize... FL, Logic, Reason, all of them are just tools, it's up to you how you use them and what you make! Even with a pair of buckets you can play drums!
@fauxtosell987511 жыл бұрын
Navion DJ I'll take your word for it. I don't have a Mac and wouldn't buy one really. I stick to PC; Mac is too rich for my blood XD PC is better for my studio as it's cost efficient. I rebuilt my PC with quality parts and everything added up it's still cheaper than a Mac.

Fauxto Sell i got some nice programs, protools, nuendo, qbase, ableton, with some nice plugins you can make very good music, also you got adobe audition, works very well for making kicks and tweaking them! and yeah, there is not 1 program thats the best, but you have to look for software with loads of options, but not to much, i like nuendo and qbase, but i really like all of these in this comment, just search for the best in your opinion!

sample editor. Dubble click on the kick. Then ur in the sample editor. There u have to select the tail. Click "Factory" and then "Time And Pitch Machine". Try something like 200CENT or -200CENT. Then click prelisten to hear it. If it's OK, click "Process And Paste". Then u have a pitched kick! But before u gonna pitch, u gotta make a copie of it! Good luck!!!
