Pro-tiip. Put some blue loc-tite on that bolt that you leave on the inserted bracket. This will prevent accidental release, and obviously prevent it from falling off later. In fact, no reason you shouldn't blue loc tite all of the bolts.

I have the Inspired XL. I mounted it by removing the stock square bar. Accessing the cross bar by removing the bottom corner border self tapping screws. And secured it on my low profile rhino rack with the included hardware… Helped reduce the profile and access …. I really enjoyed this tent. Thanks for the vid

Great wiring job!!! Question though...... how did you run the wires from one side of the roof rack to the other sides? Because of the round shape of the SRM500 rack, there doesn't see like there would be a good place to hide or tuck in the wires around the frame. Or am I wrong? I'd love to see or hear how you did it

Thanks for watching! For now I just zip tied the wires around the tube and pushed it to the inside part of it. Ive been wanting to 3D print some wire holding brackets that snap into the t slots to clean things up. If I do that, I’ll post something about it!

Does the rear door zip open from the top or bottom? Is the rear canopy also the door? You demonstrated side doors but not the back. It looks like no way to have good ventilation in a rain storm!

Do you know the weight capacity of the rack with rain gutter mounts? Also, after a year have you had any leaks? I am concerned about drilling holes because I sleep in the Jeep.
@520overland
@520overland 4 ай бұрын
I think the rain gutter mounts support a bit over 200lbs (90kg) static load. I thought I saw it at one point but I can’t find it at the moment. I have had no leaks after a few years of running this rack and I’ve had it in PNW rainy weather as well as Southwestern monsoons. I did add a generous amount of Permatex around the holes I drilled and I’m sure that has helped. Thanks for watching!

I'm in China, got this tent OEM from the factory for about 1.5k USD, the cover is a ballache but the carbon fibre doesn't like sunlight so I threw on a UV protection sticker... Its pretty great, but likewise worried about drainage... I got this for a 4 week trip to Western China desert at end of month, so not likely to see rain on this trip...

It’s like comparing oranges to apples, both are fruits and both are edible. I think it would be fair to compare an entirely stock vehicles vs vehicles with modifications such as lift kits, spacers and larger tires. I own a Jeep Rubicon and for over landing it’s just as fine as a 4Runner (to me) I drove both and didn’t notice that much difference, now, ability to somewhat easily modify my vehicles and a huge aftermarket is a winning factor for me with the Jeep. I mean if you want your Jeep faster and quieter on a highway, don’t put 35’ or 37’ on, especially for overland driving it’s pointless and purely for looks.

I've had a Tacoma, a 4Runner, and a Jeep. Toyota's are great, but if you plan to build up an off-road capable machine, you can't really touch a Jeep. A Rubicon will fit up to a 39-inch tire with a small lift. If you want to go 40 plus you should upgrade the axles. I still have a Land Crusier, and it can do a lot, but for serious off-roading, it's the Jeep. Before you say Toyota's are more reliable, the truth is that a Toyota in more extreme off-road breaks far more. Unfortunately, we can't get the more serious 70 series Land Cruiser here like Australia. Those would be at the top of my list...
