Thanks! very clear and easy to understand and make sense. I was struggling with some positions as I was trying to use the whole chord, but I see you can only use 3 fingers and not playing the whole notes of the chord. 😅

Also, I wonder how many great musicians have been held back by 'copyright' b.s. making music resources unobtainable or hard enough to find it may as well be. Sad. Even when we have found the resources they are watered down as in cant show the chords on the screen. B.S.!!!

That was wonderful. Could I perhaps ask as a potential follow up to this, that you do something on “bass runs” (or is “walks”) as a way of linking chords. It’s a really heavily used technique as you know especially in genres such as country music but I have always struggled with it. I have always loved the sound of it and know it’s also a great way to learn your fretboard so I would really welcome a basic tutorial if and when you have time. Cheers and thanks for all the great stuff you do, it’s really appreciated.

@@kevinbuenoartbywave you have the right idea but "minor" means the 3rd flattened. You would call the flattened 2nd "flattened" or "diminished". You have the right idea though, these are just names.

Oh I think I understand on second thought because if I were right it would mean that the A note is the root in any scale containing an A and that is wrong rather the lowest note is the key center and in G that is G rather A or some other note in the key of G would be either up the scale or a chromatic note which is added to the scale; am I wrong?
@RizHallowes
@RizHallowes 4 күн бұрын
@@kevinbuenoartbywave easiest way to think of it is A is root note of any chord or scale starting with A. G is root note of any chord or scale starting with G, etc.
@RizHallowes
@RizHallowes 4 күн бұрын
Just remember that A#, G# etc are notes too. So G is not root note of G# chord or scale, G# is

How do hold the pick up strums vs down strums. My up strums pick digs in?
@RizHallowes
@RizHallowes 14 күн бұрын
Hi there, I have a vid for holding the pick here kzbin.info/www/bejne/eobOdmyinp6Dr6M it doesn't change between strumming and picking notes. Make sure you are doing the same motion up as down. Only thing that changes is direction. If it helps at first don't aim specifically at the bottom string on upstrokes, just a general hit on the strings as a whole
@LLewis-vu9qf
@LLewis-vu9qf 15 күн бұрын
I find it annoying to the max that hitting D D U U D U D seems sooo much more difficult (for me) than skipping the Up strokes. 🙄 I did finally get it, sort of, but it took me a LOT longer than I thought it should have. And still working on it to make it more consistent and fluid. A REALLY informative video, especially the 16th time strum. 😊

Great stuff - this truly is lightbulb, transformative info. What might be cool, if you think it could work, is maybe do a video sometime where you demonstrate on your GUITAR how the chords in the scales you have identified in this video fit together as a “family” and how really famous songs are so often built on such. For instance, for me, it really blew me away when I found out how Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” was built from the C major, D minor, E minor, F major, G major, A minor chords that were ALL found in the C major scale - a total classic built from chords in just ONE scale. No doubt you would know heaps of other examples but the main thing is it just shows how the theory you explained really does come alive and that it underpins the songs so many of us love and want to play. Anyhow, love your work - just fantastic and look forward to whatever video you do next.

Hi, thanks again. I don't have story teller but why I chose to buy State is....... I've always found listening to demos and the products I own that Norman is a soft hitter, which doesn't suit my purposes. His attention to detail is amazing but it surprised me none of the producers got him to hit harder. So, when I listened to the articulations for State he was smashing on the higher velocities. I guess Eliot made him but it worked for me!

Good starter tutorial for begginers. Noticed lots of these tutorials depicting the C add9.. along with E m7, Dsus4. As you mentioned for your upcoming tutorials you'll be covering strumming / Rythum.. Through the years, I've met begginers and the confusion is rythum. Chords, how to hold your guitar, how to hold a pick or no pick is important. Not as important as rythum. While showing a rythum pattern or strum pattern. Have a piece of music playing so they can here what your trying to convey with a strum pattern. Lot's of lights will come on in peoples heads. And your Subs will start accumulating.. 👍
