Great video! Your right about being able to play any notes of the scale starting on notes beside the root; I don't see how to conflate root and Tonic however when in the key of G any note besides G that gets played first is your Tonic the Root may well remain G but say the player plays an A note and His Tonic was A# He may well still be in the Key of G as say G major scale may well be the repository of notes being played; am I wrong about this?

Hi again. Are you thinking of chords in the key? So, for instance, the root note of an A minor chord is A, even if the key it's played in is G. The tonic note for G is always G, but each chord is built on another root note. If that's what's confusing you I'm covering it in the next video

Oh I think I understand on second thought because if I were right it would mean that the A note is the root in any scale containing an A and that is wrong rather the lowest note is the key center and in G that is G rather A or some other note in the key of G would be either up the scale or a chromatic note which is added to the scale; am I wrong?

@@kevinbuenoartbywave easiest way to think of it is A is root note of any chord or scale starting with A. G is root note of any chord or scale starting with G, etc.

Just remember that A#, G# etc are notes too. So G is not root note of G# chord or scale, G# is
