I LOVE CAMPAGNOLO, AND HAVE THREE ITALIAN BIKES, ALL FITTED WITH TOP OF THE RANGE CAMPAGNOLO!!! I SAVED A LITTLE USED CUSTOM ORANGE BIANCHI SPECIALISSIMA RIM BRAKE WHICH HAD SHIMA(NO!) DURA-ACE, ETC FITTED, SO I GOT IT TAKEN OFF (SOLD IT OFF!), AND HAD NEW 12-SPEED SUPER RECORD EPS/WTO 33 WHEELS FITTED!!! I HAD A COLNAGO C60 WITH FULL 11-SPEED SR EPS/BORA ULTRA WHEELS, ETC, BUT IT WAS TOO BIG, SO I WAITED FOR A C64 DISC. I FOUND ONE WITH MECHANICAL SR/RECORD/WTO 60 WHEELS, BUT I WANTED SR EPS DISC, SO I SOURCED THE PARTS AT GREAT PRICES, AND HAD THEM FITTED!!! I AM NOW CHANGING THE WTO WHEELS TO WTO ULTRA 33, AS THEY ARE LIGHTER, AND WE HAVE A LOT OF HILLS HERE! LASTLY, I AM A MASSIVE MARCO PANTANI FAN, AND HAVE SOURCED MOST OF HIS 1993-1997 KITS, BUT HAVE ALL HIS 1998 KIT, SO NEEDED HIS BIANCHI REPLICA WITH THE CAMPAGNOLO RECORD/PIRATE SADDLE TO COMPLETE THE LOOK! WELL, AFTER SIX YEARS OF TRYING, I SOURCED A VIRTUALLY UNUSED/MINT CONDITION BIKE! JUST WAITING FOR THE SUMMER/BIG BIKE RACES TO SHOW IT OFF! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE (EVEN ITALIANS!!!) WILL NOT BUY CAMPAGNOLO, BUT LOVE BLAND, UGLY SHIMA(NO!)/SRAM?

WHY NO RIM BRAKE VERSION? I like Campagnolo and use Campagnolo parts for ~40 years… but you do realize that you are no longer a market leading brand and that you are dependent of customers who buy outside of mainstream, don’t you? Then it is absolutely stupid to not let those who do think outside of the box be your customers… it’s Campagnolo‘s arrogance which let the brand struggle and you guys are not willing to learn your lesson…….

If you really want someone to come around to your way of thinking or provide you something, in this case a rim brake version. Insulting their intelligence will get you nowhere.
@graemefk65198 күн бұрын
There are very few rim brake frames being offered at the moment, from the major manufacturers, who, love it or loathe it, drive what component makers do. The last two are from Pinarello and Colnago, who, whilst they are prominent companies, big enough to be considered as "major manufacturers", they are not on the scale of Trek or Specialized for example. Any manufacturer has to look at where the market is heading - this wheel, like almost every other new release in the wheel market from every company, is a disc brake wheel because that is where the market as a whole is headed. Trek, Specialized and others like them are leading that now and are setting the overall market expectations ... Add to that, the customers, it would appear, don't really want to pay the significant premium that is inherent in far smaller production runs of CF composite rims using different adhesive / matrix technology to withstand the heating that happens with rim brakes. Any brand can only look at the trends it sees in what it's wholesalers and distributors order - if rim brake sales were still very strong - and there is a rim brake WTO-pattern wheel available, in three depth offerings - then the incentive would be there to keep developing rim brake. Unfortunately, the sales of rim brake wheels, are OK - but not enough to sustain the ongoing development of new rim brake wheels by any of the major wheel brands. We all know that there are small framebuilders that still offer rim brake frames ... but we also all know well, that especially for those building in metal, rather than composite, most of the current movement in frame design (larger headtubes, integrated cockpits, disc brake, etc.) add weight to a frame in a way which can be coped with by building frames in composite but not, without a lot of tech & therefore cost, in metal. That very small, edge market is just not big enough to sustain factory manufacture at volume, plus those customers tend to be of a "custom" frame of mind and so may well opt for more custom, rather than off-the-peg wheels.

Setup of the RD is very much like all out mechanical systems except that the adjustment of the b-tension is key. Make sure you set it as close to large cassette as you can. Very simple system. The other thing is to make sure your derailleur hanger is straight. Most are not.

Is it possible to run the system without FD, i.e. using it as 1x? It looks as if paring of RD and FD is essential but I would like to check. 1x setup for me would be perfect and I don’t want to go Shimano/Sram route.

Awful engineering solution. Nobody thinks this stuff is clever or optimum. Crap basically. My carbon bike with this crap installed makes so much noise I now wear EarPods when riding as the clicking and ticking and creaking from the bike ruins the ride otherwise. Is Carbon light ? Yes. Is it perfect? Hell no.

As an old seasoned veteran racer who rides Campy Wrl and EPS I’ll tell you straight up I wouldn’t recommend you get campy. It’s a pain in the ass and especially if you do your own wrenching. It just is and after a while the novelty of that wears off. Just saying.

I, like many others, cannot justify buying Super Record. I have Chorus on all my bike which more than exceeds my capabilities. If EPS was reintroduced to Chorus, I would buy it straight away.
@robbiek44004 ай бұрын
I agree with you and am the same with my chorus bikes going back to the 80s. Sucks no 12speed Chorus EPS or WRL. It irks me. Eventually I really wanted to take the leap to elec shifting and had to make a hard decision, SR EPS 12 or SRAM. So I bit the bullet but it always stung. I did use my Chorus 12 cranks on that bike as my way of keeping it real. I hate campy. I love their products but I hate the constant pain in the ass or take it or leave it approach at every turn. Always feel like I got screwed no matter how good their stuff is. Give us modern Elec Chorus please!

Just got my new steel Battaglin with this gruppo. The shifting is perfect and the braking is unreal. I don’t understand all the negativity. Yeah I still love the mechanical and rim brake Campagnolo gruppos of the past - I have 10 and 11 speed Super Record and 9 speed Chorus, on steel bikes, but this is light years better IMHO.

I'm sorry but this groupset is very hard to set up. I'm wondering what are the benefits of the eps knowing that it weight 135 grs more than the mechanical version and the massive rear and front mech probably shave all the aero gain induce by the absence of derailleur hose. I find out that it seems needed to press the RD button after the second solid pink on the controller. It takes me around 10 min maximum to set up a mechanical groupset from Campagnolo. I'm here since half an hour and still stuck to the RD. I'm probably a shitty bike mechanic.

According to Campagnolo, the C-Link isn't reuseable once closed and opened again. Why? And if it is a throwaway item, why does this little bit of metal cost about 15 Euro? A third of the price of a new chain? I would like to take the chain off for cleaning (re-waxing) once in a while, but at this price point, it's kinda prohibitiv!
