This was a period when the Mustang was NOT a competitor for the Camaro. What it competed against was the Celica GT and the Vega, Monza etc. Of this group the Celica was leagues ahead of the Ford in standard equipment and lighter, too.

The 5.0 now takes 5W30.... The GT500 uses 5W50... You are misleading a bit here.... I used to work for GM, all my Vehicles are Fords

Ford changed the 5.0 engine weight from 5W20, now only 5W30...... 10,000 mile oil change is not for longevity... Synthetic oil 5W30 changed every 3000 miles and i have 345,781 miles, doing 7500 to 10000 miles my phasers would have went bad many times.... Oil is cheap todays 5.0 costs $13k engine only, no labor

The 351 mm in the 400s are of the 355 engine family. They're tall deck 351 Cleveland's with 429 and 460 bellhousing pattern on the back and 3 inch mains. The letter m definitely and without question stands for modified as it is a modified Cleveland black with you aforementioned big block bell housing pattern, a 10.297 deck height versus the Cleveland's 9.2 and 3 inch main bearings. I've used the heads off a lot of these on everything from 302 to 289 and 351 Windsor's to make what they call a mock boss. The 351 M and the 400 block are exactly the same only one has a 3.5-inch stroke the other has a 4-inch stroke. The 260 289 and 302 blocks are 8.2 inch deck height. The 351 Windsor is a 9.5 inch deck height the Cleveland is a 9.2 inch deck height with the splayed valve heads. What's the m in the 400 also share making them the only factory available splay valve small blocks of any brand. The 351 Cleveland uses the Windsor bell housing pattern. The m and the 400 share the 429 and 460 bellhousing pattern for more unity across the brand. If ever in question keep in mind that the cleveland-style blocks which are the 351 C, 351M , 400 they all use the same heads so look for the 8 bolt valve covers. And the water neck which is not mounted to the intake manifold.

*caution ⚠️ If you daily drive your mustang please just stick to lowering springs.. coilovers produce an extremely loud clunking noise that gets extremely annoying, no matter how many times you Jack it up or put it up on the lift to make adjustments that noise will still return 😒 trust me you’ll be happy with your ride height with just simple springs and as far as ride quality it’s not much different from stock

*Caution: The above OPINION is only true if coilovers are low quality and/or installed incorrectly. The OP also fails to mention any of the numerous DOWNSIDES to lowering springs, such as they're too soft a spring rate, causing hitting bump stops hard and tire rub, accelerate your OEM shocks wearing out, and contrary to the OP, many people are NOT happy with the drop, eg too low, too high, or uneven. FYI: NEVER trust anybody who says "trust me."😉
@rickmassey1272Күн бұрын
It's drilling out the upper rear shock mount that definitely contributes to the noise...there's a reason Ford engineers put the bushing in the mount and it definitely isn't to make it easy to DRILL OUT AND ENLARGE THE HOLE...even if the upper shock stem is larger it will still make noise due to clearance issues.
@briangoodner8680Күн бұрын
Koni has lifetime guarantee to original owner. Call where you bought them and explain the problem, or contact Koni directly. OP painted ALL coilovers with a disparaging broad brush and didn’t point out any problems that lowering springs can have.

Get a 600+lbft impact wrench 1/2". Anywhere it won't fit, use a breaker bar. Brand is only relevant to your Business or wallet.

If you want something that will do the job and wont hurt the bank, then go get one at harbor freight and it will work just fine especially if you are a DIY/help others out. If you can care less about price and want top quality then go with either Milwaukee or DeWalt. And mnemonicabyss is right, 1/2".

I was cringing watching the hammering of the suspension bolts without the inverse nut for anti-shroom and bigger surface area to hit. It's a shop so it doesn't matter as much if they need to replace it, but to any DIY, do it right.

Hi.. Looking for input on upgrading the clutch and flywheel for my 2014 3.7L. I am despise my dual-mass flywheel (which vibrates considerably at 2000 RPM), so I'm going with a solid flywheel. I'm leaning towards steel as I don't really race it often (maybe some autocross occasionally) and I feel like an aluminum flywheel might be a little too light for street use. Any thoughts from folks that have made the change?

The 351m is an absolute TRUD. The only "good" thing if you have the M is you have a "big block" bell transmission (C6), so you can yank and toss it and put in a 400, 428 or 460 without having to change much. The M came out post 1972, so they are 160hp (if youre lucky) dogs that are a de-stroked 400. I had a '77 Cougar XR7 with the M in it, junked it and put in a 400 with Cleveland heads and ran the ball bag off it. With heads, intake/carb and cam, you can VERY easily jump over 400hp with the Windsor.

Although sometimes called the "Windsor" by enthusiasts, Ford never used that designation for the engine line as a whole; it was only adopted well into its run to distinguish the 351 cu in (5.8 L) version from the 351 cu in (5.8 L) "Cleveland" version of the 335-family engine that had the same displacement but a significantly different configuration, and only ever used to refer to that specific engine in service materials. The designations for each were derived from the original locations of manufacture: Windsor, Ontario and Cleveland, Ohio.
