What is the difference between dry and wet carbon fiber?

Wet carbon fiber is called “wet” because it is laminated by applying liquid resin directly onto the carbon fiber in a mold using a brush or spray gun. This is typically called a “wet lay-up”. Dry carbon fiber is called “dry” because the carbon fiber is pre-impregnated (“prepreg”) with dry, uncured resin before it is cured in an autoclave. Overall, dry carbon fiber is a better choice simply because it’s more consistent in its appearance and structure

@@marine8995 thanks for the explanation... so let me ask you then, there's a guy I follow called AJ Hartman Aero and he makes carbon fiber parts himself. he layers carbon fiber onto a mold then puts the mold in a vacuum and injects resin and cures it. is this what you're saying is wet?

It's absolutely ridiculous that you can option a 2025 Dark Horse to $90,000 with $9,000 carbon fiber wheels, but the car still has that cheap fake carbon fiber trim. Come on, Ford.

It's not fake. It's dry carbon.

@ it is absolutely not dry carbon. They are plastic pieces that have a pattern laser etched into them. Motor Trend and all of the other publications talked about it when the S650 came out.
