Would this be a fairly doable project for a beginner?

hello! Great Video! do you have a list of materials and tools needed for this project? I am just starting so I am looking for the starting kit for a bag like this.

It's a shame you label this as a tutorial, yet remain silent throughout. Nice work though.

stunning work. Next time set rivet heads with a good flat hammer head on a marble block. such a shame to see the press marks in the heads of the rivets........

Nice work. Curious what is the length of time this project would take start to finish?

Thank you :) I`m glad to hear that. Regarding your question - This project was time-consuming. Sewing took a lot of time :) I think 20-30 hours. Assuming that you have ready-made leather and do not need to dye it yourself etc.

Did you make this as a decorative piece? Do you have a cutout set where you can make an actual helmet?
@KiLeatherworks
@KiLeatherworks 5 ай бұрын
The helmet has real dimensions and when designing I based it on the structures of real helmets, but it probably does not meet current safety standards for firefighters ;) And this is the only pattern I have :)

Hi, To make this box, I`ve used vegetable-tanned leather (like most of my products). search google for "veg tanned hides" :)

What kind of leather and how thick do I need to make this?
@KiLeatherworks
@KiLeatherworks 6 ай бұрын
IMO the best leather will be veg-tanned (especially for the "eagle" part because you will have to carve it :) ). You will need it in a few different thicknesses in the range from 1,5 mm to 2,5 mm.

Came out really nice. I'm using it for crossbow bolts for a reproduction Medieval one, so it fits well with the exotic look. I still need to get a lot better with stamping and carving, but at least it got me trying it more. My mistakes even looked ok as it just looks older and more time worn.

Fun little project to make with leftover scraps. I used undyed Veg Tan so it will be fun to see how it patinas with different dyes dripping etc. I also made a small spacer piece so it holds Angelus dyes as well. Their bottles are even easier to tip over.

I'm glad to hear that you had fun with it :) I also have one made of undyed leather - I only use it for black dye and it will probably be completely black in some time ;) Thank you for your tip about Angelus bottles :)
