well I think previous owner of this car has a timing chain fault which causes The valves met the pistons so he repair that and sell car to new owner and after a year this happend, knock knock. Well anyhow the meting of the valves and pistons most likely caused a micro crack, resulting in a macro crack and so this is the story. But its not the only one 2.2 mzr cd with this problem I had a same issue on mazda 6gh wich had i think to much fuel in oil because of dpf regeneration in city mode driving, @aaronx137 discribed this in his comment

No, no problem with cp4 maybe on VAG it's not a common issue like on the BMW. Only once i had to replace this cp4 on volkswagen and it was passat B6 2009 2.0tdi and that's all in my experience for vag.

@@legendica23 its vicreiz selant caps sometimes they fits perfectly. no I did not disconnect the battery terminals. and if you disconnect the terminal from the battery, then you will have to re-register it in the ECU.

Love the vid .. ive goy A6 c7 2012 2.0tdi .just replaced everything like you have and now the injector grommets on the rocker cover have started to seep , which now i no what my cure can be and to use sealant, i have just ordered the oem audi ones so im gonna give those a try 1st and if fails again ill put some sealant on ..

⚠️⚠️additional info for those that have the early n47d20a, near the place you put the special tool on the pump you have a 10mm bolt that hold the pump. So to be able to remove it you got take out this one as well. Discovered by braking mine😂

dpf regenerations in diesel engines often make portions of fuel pass into the oil, so this will rapidly lose its lubrication properties and provoke this problems, the only way to avoid that is by driving on highways and change oil every 5000 miles or 10000km

Great video. I was changing my intake manifold gaskets so had to lock the timing belt then take of the fuel pump. Whilst doing this my auxiliary belt came of can it just be put back on in no special way unlike the timing belt ?

manual says that you have to replace this pipes but who want do this, I don't and I had leak from one pipe too but after re-tightening it, leak was gone. So you can try wind up copper wire under the pipe nut so it will have more thread to tight up up it helps most of the time(if retightening doesn't helped). I will try to make video in case if you don't get it, let me know;)

Great help thanks. Stepping back and pointing out the location of each nut would have helped a bit more it was a bit close and quick lol. To replace the main bolts do you follow the sequence 1-14 finger tight then go around about to proper torque. I thought the torque ls were 9NM but your manual says 10NM. My car is the A4 v6 67 plate but engine looks the same.

Hi! BMW E90 318d, N47 engine code, 2008. The car stopped accelerating, then I turned it off and it wouldn’t start again, or only with great difficulty. When it did start, it was shaking, as if not all cylinders were firing, and afterward, it wouldn’t start at all. After removing the fuel pressure regulator valve, we found metal shavings. The mechanic checked it, but it wouldn’t start, and he measured that the pressure sometimes drops. What do you think could be the issue? What should be replaced? The fuel pump works, and fuel reaches the return lines. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.”

Hello.Well i think the main issue is that the metal shavings from high pressure pump went straight in to the injectors and maybe all of them are now dead. So all you need to do is basicly in this two videos, part one removing instaling hipressurepump and part two cleaning fuel tank and starting. Now You need to 1 remove High pressure pump and replace it, 2 check injectors on the test bench(maybe some of the are working) if not replace them, 3 clean fuel rail and sensors on it 4 chek electric fuel pump in the fuel tank is it working good. 5 clean all fuel lines and fuel tank from metal shavings. 6.bleed fuel system, start the engine and have a nice day. 7 you can add some addativ in to the fuel that lubricate fuel system components to prevent this ''beautiful'' high pressure pump boschCP4 crack again or never drive with low fuel level (because air and this fuel system don't go together well)

Hi, I have replaced the HPFP on an e92 with the N47 engine. I carefully followed the steps. When I was trying to bleed the system, I found that there was no fuel coming out of the HPFP. I tried bleeding with scan tools and also with an external battery plugged into the low fuel pump (still nothing coming out). I cranked the engine a few times to see if the rail pressure would come up, but it did not. It shows 0bar. I know the low fuel pump is sending fuel, I have checked all connections (no leaks), clamped the return lines to build up pressure, checked for DTCs on the DDE. I have also reinstalled the old one (which was working ok ish before replacement) and still found the same problem, nothing coming out of HPFP. Do you have any idea what I can do? Thank you

I run out of ideas since I know intake pump is correct (pressure 3.8 bar), i put a different regulator on, new fuel filter, changed both sensors at the rail, system has no leaks. I tried to bleed the system and still not fuel coming out from the hpfp. I put two different hpfp and i am having the same problem with both. I just don't know what else to do.

Anyway, did you check if you installed the fuel filter in the wrong direction? Or maybe mixed up the fuel feed and fuel return lines...?

For the sake of ecology, WAG created the most problematic engine-EA288 in their entire history. I'll list the problems right away: egr cooler and intercooler leaks, cracked heads, water pump problems, oil pump belt problem. All these repairs take a long time and are very expensive. I think that doesn't tell the true story . The intercooler can leak , yes , but because it suffers from alot of heat stress , afaik it can reach a delta temp of 60ºc in just a few centimeters , cracked heads ? I think is related to the heater matrix clogged (rear secondary circuit) . egr cooler problem? aparently yes but most likely the reason is also the temperature . water pump problem ? yes , but I think the G13 had a great impact on that . oil pump belt problem ? never had , I replaced mine at the same time I replaced the other two bolts , obviously it should be replaced . I'm not saying that you can't suffer from this problems but there's a reason behind it ...the days that they were able to make proper engines without polution restrictions are gone a long time ago
