Thats the proper way to implement classic Fallout references in future titles so seamlessly. And not just disregard tone & immersion of a quest, context, by just wanting to sound hip by infuriate your fan base. Aka the Trouble on the homefront quest, where Amata seems to be bipolar, since she shifts from wanting you to convince the overseer to open the vault & acting all kind & empathetic towards you, only to kick you out of the vault indefinitely, just because Bethesda wanted to please older fans as well. The level of autism it requires to actually think that this kind of writing is actually good, is just beyond insanity at this point. lol

I absolutely never help the Powder Gangers in any of my playthroughs. However, the only real way to clear out the prison and have it matter in the ending slides is by keeping a neutral reputation so that you can talk to Eddie, and that is totally off the table the moment you help Goodsprings. But thanks to a No-Witnesses mod I installed, I could still fight off Joe Cobb and talk to Eddie, and then complete I Fought The Law on NCR's side.

One thing I didn't like about the Independent ending is how the game treats as if the Courier permanently vanishes after the final battle. If the game acknowledges the Courier staying and ruling the Mojave, can you imagine how much better Veronica's life could be with at least a place to call home? Not to mention maybe forging a professional relationship with the likes of Arcade and the other companions. This melancholy is purely artificially there for the sake of grey/grey morality choices when the Courier's (good karma and completionist) actions would make things so drastically happier and better.

The only reason to put Hardin in charge of the BOS is if you want a quicker access route to power armor before destroying them or are roleplaying a diehard BOS member in the Yes Man ending, because that's the only one where the BOS can survive with Hardin in charge. Otherwise, it's better to leave McNamara as Elder.

It’s cosmic and sad what happens to Arcade if you sell him to Caesar. Arcade is the only person in the entire legion left at this point (Ulysses and Joshua being the former) who is an intellectual match to Caesar (despite the weird stats he’s given in game. Never made cannon sense) so to Caesar I could imagine the first couple times Arcade mouthed off Caesar probably had him punished in some way. Probably lashings with a whip. But once Caesar noticed arcades philosophical, historical, mathematical, and linguistic inclinations as well as medicine he probably quickly began to treat Arcade like a treasured pet, doting on him and giving him what Caesar would consider lavish gifts and living arguments compared to the other servants. Almost certainly forcing him to play chess with him during philosophical and militaristic debate in his private living quarters. Giving Arcade cart Blanche to say whatever he wanted whenever he wanted due to how much he enjoyed his company. One could even go far enough to pontificate that Arcade probably was able to win small victories in his own right to Caesar agreeing with him on certain issues and possibly changing the way he went about certain things. History has many examples of rulers having their views softened for the better by someone they see as an intellectual equal. But while to Caesar this is a wonderful thing, to find someone he enjoys being around and talking to and respects, to Arcade this is a personal hell. To be in servitude to a man he despises so much and sees as a cruel and ruthless dictator. Knowing the atrocities Caesar had committed. Seeing first hand how other slaves are treated in the legion. Arcade will never know true peace or true happiness again that’s where the cosmic part comes in. Caesar will love him and Arcade will hate him. And once he takes his own life after years of being in that perpetual hell, Caesar will mourn him like he lost a trusted friend or advisor while Arcade will be relieved to be free of him.

This along side other references like @Jamesstudholme3161 kinda suggests but I can't figure out if he confirms it or wants to shy away from confirming it. It is definitely the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel which is rogue from Rothchild's description in Fallout 3. There is no other explanation that would make sense unless you somehow think that Lyon's Brotherhood had not taught their foreign recruited scouts about their history. To me this confirms a vast empire once stood on the Midwestern BoS ground but by 2277-2281 it was significantly weakened to the point that they did not resist territorial incursions by the Lyon's Brotherhood (who managed to slip by Caesar's Legion as well) and EDE who managed to not get captured and in fact proves that some sort of technologically sophisticated civilization exists in and around Chicago due to the references Tommy and his family make to knowing how to repair EDE (by the mother), knowing about the TV show Ralphie (by Tommy), and the fact they know someone might be looking for it (By the father). This also coordinates well with Lonesome Road's mention of a Chicago Enclave through the same EDE pathway and Courier references.

Huh, I always do things in specific orders, mostly for reputation or roleplay, but I have done this quest with Caesar dead, but I never really noticed. Hanlon is perhaps the most nuanced character/situation in the game. If he dies, regardless of reasons, things go bad not just for the NCR, but the entire rule of law throughout most the wasteland because of the reputation of Rangers as peacekeepers. Even though turning him in his the right thing to do, an alternative solution is always better.
@jamesstudholme31617 күн бұрын
I mean... the east in Caesar's context for sure is still west of the Mississippi so the Brotherhood he captured would have to be very far out scouts from the midwest brotherhood from tactics out of Chicago. That game is only semi canon (ie we know there's Brotherhood in Chicago who got their via airship, but officially little else) and we don't know which ending is picked, but either way it does expand greatly and much more closely resembles Lyon's Brotherhood than the Cali and Mojave chapters (unless you pick the worst possible ending where they end up like the Enclave ethically RE mutants) with the ending involving an expedition into Colorado that, in all but one ending winds up with them having a substantial presence/empire there which we can infer probably isn't canon (that many brotherhood would have been mentioned and not within the legions ability to fight off . But in the ending more likely to be canon (let the calculator die) it's conceivable they'd be present in the region, just not owning it. I can see Caesar upon entering Colorado pushing out either their their forward elements likes scribes out researching or there interfacing with the local tribes on diplomatic missions, and potentially a larger expeditionary force of the MW-BOS going to try and hold Caesar back by rallying the tribes against him only to fail. Given how centurion armour is meant to be a patchwork cobbled together from fallen foes, and the one in game has a T-45D pauldron on it (a piece the NCR salvaged armour doesn't have so they didn't get it off of them) there had to be one substantial dustup with brotherhood at one point, so the latter scenario seems more likely... though I can't see that being the principal force of the MW-BOS, they're still probably out there, just licking their wounds in Chicago. I can see how a 'scribe' in such an expanded open and benevolently governing brotherhood with a task and training not pertaining to brotherhood history would be conceivable in Midwest brotherhood post canon if they're recruited for expertise they already have. Even if such a scribe would be alien to normal brotherhood, or even to Lyons who used outside experts like Dr Li, but would never induct them as scribes without that sort of education... MW-BOS totally would

@doghat16197 күн бұрын
energy weapons and higher tech is rarer in fallout 1 & 2 BECAUSE the brotherhood was local and active for so long in the region. in new vegas, they arrived in the mojave less than 10 years ago, and didn't do much more than fight for helios one. they've not had the decades of presence to recover 'dangerous' technology, hence why energy weapons are everywhere in new vegas.
