I think these days there are more gun enthusiasts, than hunters. Why is that important? Because as a hunter, you learn the consequence of one shot can take life. Life is so freaking fragile. Happy to of been raised in a hunting family, and firearm safety was most important.

Wouldn’t barrel twist play a part in the effectiveness of the ammo? Some twists are more accurate with 77 and some are better with 62 or 55. I’d rather be accurate and effective with the ammo that’s best suited for my gun than not and hit the neighbors dog.

It’s always important to occasionally shoot the good ammo at paper so you’re used to it, this is especially so in rifles at longer range, they might have different impacts than cheap plinking ammo

High quality ammo, especially with different projectiles will most certainly shoot different than cheap FMJ. I’ve seen too many people buy a box of high-quality Carey ammo and never actually shoot it. And yet, it’s in their carry gun every day. Yes, I understand it can be expensive to practice with high-quality ammo, but it does need to be done when a fella is able

I really dont give two shits if something is reloaded the ONLY thi g that makes it different is the case is reused, which is cheaper and better for the environment because it reduces dependency on mining. If you cant trust a company to reuse a case then how can you say you trust them to make their own cases, manufacture ammunition, then sell it to YOU

Fiber optic tritium sights work just as good as a red dot if that guy is so worried about it. Iron sights suck for target acquisition, that's why you practice fast draws on intuition more that sight picture. Also a bad drop can also royally fvck up your iron sights. It's happened to me.

Every attachment must have a purpose that complements the purpose of the rifle. You cant make a single list of attachments and then say that no rifle should have any other attachments. Is it a night fighting rifle and you have NODs? You should probably have a laser/illuminator on it. Is it liable to be used at an extended range and/or is positive identification of potential targets crucial? Maybe you should have a magnifier or magnified optic on it.

This is the best & most practical setup I’ve found for the average fella. The problem is, too many people live in a fantasy world where they think they’re running nods and kicking doors in. The truth of the matter is most fellas, neither have the skill nor the training to do either, and wasting time, money and effort on attachments that look cool is just for fun, nothing wrong with it, but it’s not practical. The average fella should have a good reliable rifle simply set up for practical defensive use. Attachments and other hoopla should be added to other purpose driven firearms. Having a sleek, reliable and simple fighting rifle set up is step one.

@everythingyukon Most guys also have multiple rifles setup differently. Night vision is an absolutely massive force multiplier. Should it be on your home defense gun? No, you probably wouldn't have time to kit up. But when hunting certain pests, or "prepping" or just having fun night vision and thermal is huge. I'm obviously not saying everyone should have night vision gear, I'm just using it as an example.
