This was so much fun to watch. Love your sense of humor. It could be a trailer for a quilt show thriller! So many of us can relate to the rushing to meet the quilt show deadline.

Hi, I was recently given what I believe to be a Glimakra loom. I've managed the assembly and tie up and attempted a warping. It isn't going well. I was looking for the pdf download you mentioned in this video on your website but don't see it. Could you point me to where I should be looking?
@weftandwillowstudioАй бұрын
Hello there, I had meant to do this and forgot. I will work on this today. At this point, you probably found one. I will make a little video talking about my experience with the loom and I will share the pdf.

The peg on the top part of your loom that holds the bar in place that goes across the loom - just roll the bar so that the peg goes horizontally instead of vertically. That way the peg lines up with the horizontal top bar of the loom instead of sticking up and pointing down. Hope that helps!

It is amazing how simply these go together. I got my first one a few months ago. I got it second hand, not for free, WOW are you lucky. I was worried because I didn't get to see it taken apart. But that manual takes you through step by step. And if anyone finds one used without a manual do not fear. Glimakra has them online free to down load. A Glimakra is the best weaving investment anyone can make. I have a table loom from Ashford. An 8 shaft jack loom. From a maker I will not name because I'm not sure if all their looms are this cheaply made or if this one had a bad previous owner. And a 16 shaft MacComber which is my oldest. McCombers are workhorses. But after my first project on my Glimakra it became my favorite. I'm looking forward to the rest of your videos. Enjoy your new loom.

The upper cross bar on your Standard has the peg going vertical...it needs to be horizontal so you don't bump your head on it. It is a common mistake people make when assembling these looms. You will have to remove one of the gable ends to change it. It needs to be rotated 90 degrees...

I sooooo am looking for a discussion on making the color wheel my friend. If I'm looking at a pile of yarn in my stash, or a collections of odds and ends of roving, how do I combine it into a project that makes the colors POP? I read all about analagous, complements, accents, split complements, etc. How do we as fiber artists apply these concepts to our projects?
@weftandwillowstudio Жыл бұрын
Hi Colleen! Ooh, there is a lot that I could talk about this. Laura talked with me about possibly being the April speaker. She had brought up Visible Mending. A color talk/project may be better suited for me. This is my background.

Happy new year! I'm in. I will sign up. In 2023 I want to finish my first appliqué and attempt at hand quilting (a Pacific Rim 2 fabric pattern of an Octopus). I want to finish my sister Nancy's quilt (well on my way), make a shirt for my husband Bill (haven't started), and I'd really like to learn to draw. Last October I made my 3 grandsons ninja costumes for halloween. They were a hit, but I had to figure out how to get a dragon on one costume and a bengal tiger on the other. In fabric, right? So I went on line and there actually was a "how to draw a dragon" tutorial, which is what I did, then printed it on fabric. The tiger I just used silhouettes. I had to pay to download them tho. It'd be nice to know how to draw. I am also hoping to sign up for your class and will be there at the guild to do so on Thursday.
