3 tips: Glimakra Looms

It is amazing how simply these go together. I got my first one a few months ago. I got it second hand, not for free, WOW are you lucky. I was worried because I didn't get to see it taken apart. But that manual takes you through step by step. And if anyone finds one used without a manual do not fear. Glimakra has them online free to down load. A Glimakra is the best weaving investment anyone can make. I have a table loom from Ashford. An 8 shaft jack loom. From a maker I will not name because I'm not sure if all their looms are this cheaply made or if this one had a bad previous owner. And a 16 shaft MacComber which is my oldest. McCombers are workhorses. But after my first project on my Glimakra it became my favorite. I'm looking forward to the rest of your videos. Enjoy your new loom.

@@weftandwillowstudio The weaving was great until summer hit. Then it was replaced by yard work and scouring fleece for a few months. Today was the first time I touched it since spring. I still love it.

Beautiful loom you have. The seniors centre I volunteered at, had a Glimakra Standard donated to them and I tried to set it up. I had never worked with a countermarche loom before. Koodos to you.

The peg on the top part of your loom that holds the bar in place that goes across the loom - just roll the bar so that the peg goes horizontally instead of vertically. That way the peg lines up with the horizontal top bar of the loom instead of sticking up and pointing down. Hope that helps!

Yeah, I have been told that. It is fine for me. Otherwise I have to take the whole system apart to fix this. Thanks for the share though.

The upper cross bar on your Standard has the peg going vertical...it needs to be horizontal so you don't bump your head on it. It is a common mistake people make when assembling these looms. You will have to remove one of the gable ends to change it. It needs to be rotated 90 degrees...

Hi, I was recently given what I believe to be a Glimakra loom. I've managed the assembly and tie up and attempted a warping. It isn't going well. I was looking for the pdf download you mentioned in this video on your website but don't see it. Could you point me to where I should be looking?

@@weftandwillowstudio really cant tell you how much I appreciate the help! I managed to warp it but I still just don't feel like I understand this loom. I feel a bit like I tripped into getting it warped haha

@@weftandwillowstudio I don't have a warping board so I warped it the same way I do my rigid heddle loom.
