The crop is not in a shelter. Why monitor the temps in a shelter. I understand shading the thermometer or sensor, but isn’t a plant just as susceptible to radiation frost as a sensor?
@jonathanhcrane648617 күн бұрын
Good question. It is because direct sunlight will raise the temperature of the sensor and so it will not be the same as ambient/outdoor temperatures in general. Hope this helps.
@johnd16916 күн бұрын
@ thanks, I might have not been clear. I acknowledged that shading the sensor from direct solar radiation is reasonable. My question is why shade it from radiating to space on cold clear nights. My point is that measuring radiation freeze temps is more useful when trying to monitor temperature for frost protection because plant tissues are also subjected to radiation freezes. My question is, isn’t that so? Or have I misunderstood?

What would be the best place for me to source a mature vanilla planifolia vine? I’m planning a large terrarium and would like to have it flowering within a year (no baby vines). I’m in GA, just a little north of you. Thanks for your research!

Im an amateur vanilla gardener and I am curious to know why Imperialis an Pompona are not approved for food? Is it lack of flavor or for harmful reasons? Also how many times would you need to cross these plants with Planifolia to get a hybrid with larger beans or longer lasting flowers? Also I live in Southern Brasil, could you send me one of those Pomponas and one Imperialis cuttings, Id love to cross pollinate using the soil and climate here and make a new variety from seed. I can trade you Vanilla Bahiana native from Brasil, produces flavourful vanilla seed.

This is a great talk! Thanks. Is one possible takeaway from this research that Tommy Atkins could be planted as a pollination partner for other varieties (mostly those which don't self pollinate well) to improve fruit set? Have there been any field trials or other research to test this? Avocado growers plant A and B types. Maybe mango growers need to plant a few Tommy Trees in each block to increase productivity?

Hey, can you make a care and culture video of leafless vanilla species, there is an absolute lack of content on these species. Maybe a video on Vanilla phalaenopsis or Vanilla madagascariensis.

South Florida growers, It’s time to diversify, add some vanilla vines to your citrus, avocado, or make some space in your nursery. Vanilla is the most profitable crop in the hot tropics and the US is the largest importer in the WORLD. @plant vanilla

Greetings from us Indonesian vanilla farmers, I pray for success in farming vanilla. Let's maintain the quality of our vanilla fruit so that we don't harvest young so that the quality of the fruit is good. Good luck.

Good morning doc, I am interested in starting a vanillery. I have been growing some plantifolia for a couple of years. I am looking for a course about vanilla. Can people come and see the collection? Is there any studies in the central part of the state? Thanks for your time. Barbara Poulin
