pakistan has killed many local languages of its region since it got independence and labslised urdu the national language of the nation. sindhi, punjabi, gujarati, and many other local languages used to be a part of that region. urdu initially doesn't belong to pakistan, rather it belongs to india especially from 'khari boli' (now delhi) region where it born and spread all across near by area. they removed hindi and devnagri script from their curriculum thinking that language belongs to hindus whom they hate the most. but one thing they forgot is urdu itself has 70% vocabulary of hindi words which has come from sanskrit and prakrit languages and the rest only 30% vocabulary has come from arabic and farsi languages.

Urdu's origin is in Sanskrit and Prakrit with light Persian influence (only words). Regardless of ideologies, how can this be disputed?

I remember in 9th grade urdu teacher started her first class by teaching the difference between zaban and boli. She said urdu is zaban and punjabi is boli because it doesn’t have any written script. I started arguing with her that she is wrong. Then I asked my mother about it and she told me about gurumukhi. Then I asked her that why you were not taught gurumukhi. She said we had a trend of taking persian instead of punjabi in school. Same thing is happening now. Punjabi is replaced by urdu and urdu is replaced by English. BTW born brought up in karachi spoke fluent punjabi since childhood and my urdu accent is perfect too.

Urdu is created out of mixing various North Indian languages like Khari Boli, Braj, Awadhi etc with some foreign loanwords from farsi and arabic. Pakistanis aren't taught the history of this language, hence they think Urdu is made out of Farsi and Arabic, lol.

Abid Husaain, obviously you don't know the origin of Urdu. Hindi / Khadee Bolee is a 19th century language. Brij and Awadhi are older but their syntax is not like Urdu. Urdu started in 13/14th century with Persian as it's base. Hindi is Urdu written in Devnaagree script using Sanskrit words.

Gurmukhi is relatively newer- we used Sharda script previously. I know a lot of the older folks who still use this. Amazing that the anchor is able to read Devanagari and Gurmukhi.
