I can't believe how awful and low effort the sprites look compared to the SNES version. They didn't even bother redoing the character portraits. They're just directly copied from the 16bit versions. The music is obviously just the finished compositions put together on some early 90's cheesy commercial synth by the composer before they were converted to midi. It ends up lacking a lot of the charm of the SNES midi synth versions because it's trying hard to mimic real instruments and the result is just lots of 90's cheese. This game should be exhibit for how raising the resolution doesn't automatically make things better. It just reeks of a 90's budget title. They could have redrawn the tile and portrait sprites in hi resolution 16bit color and redone the soundtrack with some live instruments. Like another post said, what a wasted opportunity.

This was from a generation where 3D graphics became mandatory for consoles. Good to know a few could still slip through
