Another brilliant film analysis! This is one of my favourite films, not least thanks to the atmospheric and haunting soundtrack composed by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood.

TWBB is amazing! One of my favourite. PDL is also up there for me. Adam Sandler has alot more range than people give him credit for, PDL was the film that opened me up to it and then uncut gems sealed the deal. I'd say its more a Paul Thomas Anderson film than an Adam Sandler film if that helps.

Impressive the conections of this movie, I got really impressed how they put the soundtrack so well in this movie, cause we feel different emotions but the sequence of sounds. The position of the cameras also are interesting, the movement of the cameras has a kinda of pattern and you see the repetition along the movie which is also interesting well conected with the sounds effects and soundtrack... This movie works really well with the sounds, and I love it cause I am language teacher and music teacher... The three timelines has a connection, they seems to be seperated but they are not, and of course it can be several interpretations... The spirits of Alan Kardec and also Buddhism are present here, the story of the book is perhaps not a mere story. The movie interweaves three storylines, each set in a different time period, but all connected through themes of love, mortality, and the quest for eternal life. Here's a brief overview: 16th Century: The story follows a Spanish conquistador named Tomás Verde, who embarks on a quest to find the Tree of Life in the New World to save Queen Isabella of Spain, who hopes to achieve eternal life and save her kingdom. Present Day: In this timeline, Tom Creo is a scientist desperately seeking a cure for cancer to save his wife, Izzi, who is suffering from the disease. His research is centered around a tree with properties he hopes will be the key to curing her. Far Future: This storyline features Tom as a space traveler, floating through space with a tree encased in a bubble. He is traveling to a dying star that he believes will rejuvenate the tree and grant him eternal life, while he contemplates his past and the meaning of his journey. Each storyline mirrors the others and explores deep philosophical questions about life, death, love, and the possibility of immortality. The narratives are interwoven to highlight the cyclical nature of life and the enduring power of love. The film's non-linear structure and rich symbolism make it a unique cinematic experience, open to various interpretations.

This movie was, for me, profoundly impactful. For those who can see beyond the surface, it reveals the gradual destruction of a man's ego. Alma had no intention of killing him; she was simply exhausted by his behavior. In the scene where he meets his mother, he is revisiting a part of himself he has clung to throughout his life. It’s truly a remarkable film.
@patrickadley776918 күн бұрын
I'm a huge fan of this analysis with the mother. I was always trying to form the significance but this is very spot on. One thing I caught on to is Alma's behavior is childish but her perspective is mature compared to Reynolds, seems to be the one in control through his presence but mentally is a child with his outbursts
@chevaughnemiller255112 күн бұрын
Oh thank you ❤ I also share your sentiments and your interpretation. I think this movie is quite profound.

As a somewhat famous personage once said so adequately, "If camera and sound equipment existed in 1765, this is exactly the sort of movie that people of that time would make!" 'Atun-Shei Films' May 16th 2020, in his video "The Top 10 Most Immersive Historical Movies of All Time". I believe what's said in said video is quite accurate and true, more adequately then I could've stated.

This film only gets finer with age. I really believe it deserves as much recognition as Taxi Driver. It says just as much despite them (at first glance) being about two different stratas of society, yet at the core of both films is a grim and poignant analysis of how a person can create their own enemies out of mud and ribs.

Always so frustrating to me that okay sure, the kid became deaf- but he can still talk!! He can still write!! It was just that what, it suddenly all became too hard??! Pfft, terrible father, idiotic man. And if Henry had just been HONEST, saying that he was just a friend of his dead brother, not his actual brother, Daniel was so lonely at that point he probably still would have accepted him, or at least respected him- a man's word is his bond afterall. All these men, with ambition instead of hearts, the duality of man indeed....lol I loved this movie so much, it's so aggravating to me that all my fave movies barely have any female roles (I just watched "Apocalypse Now"- it was freaking BRILLIANT!!)
