Hooray! What a fantastic video, I never realized how much weight the voicebox and "broken toy" details really help shape the overall character arc of Woody. It's fascinating how much great detail can be missed in a movie I thought I had a full grasp of, thanks for pointing out more great components. I also liked how you zoomed into the faces of characters in the wide shots and showed what they were thinking in those group shots - Pixar is ripe for details like that, great to see them pointed out in a video. Nice job and welcome back!

@@_MUSTSEEFILMS_ that's amazing man! It's incredible how much you can learn by yourself, I'm also always reading, listening and thinking about films. The video that most strikes me as something to aspire for as a filmmaker is "The Economy of Statement" just cause it's a suuuper elegant way of thinking filmmaking and it seems a bit of a challenge that Kubrick was setting out for future directors. @@_MUSTSEEFILMS_ After watching that and other things related, I got really into researching "pure cinema" scenes and films. There's some great things about it. Damien Chazelle spoke about it, saying how he loved doing it for the end of Whiplash. I love a film called "3-Iron" by Kim Ki-duk that it's mostly silent as well and just watched "The Bear" by Jean-Jacques Annaud, pure cinema completely. I just feel sometimes films that have no dialogue or close to none sometimes lack character development. That's what I find interesting about Kubrick's idea, he meant for the images go even beyond narrative and have deeper and more complex meanings, right? Being pure cinema like silent films but having that ~je ne sais quoi~ from advertising... I wonder how to do it. Maybe his idea was to go even beyond pure cinema? Didn't he do it with 2001? What did he mean when he told Spielberg he wanted to break the form? That's so mysterious, don't you think? Hahahah

There's a few people who don't seem to like this film because it's not like the other three in terms of what's going on, if I'm being honest tho, those three films are the same film, in terms of structure as they share the same kind of inciting incident where there's an action set piece that is a display of the characters' worst fears, the same kind of chase sequence or action set piece that puts the characters in a do or die scenario. None of that is present in this one from what I saw, and I think that makes the film very special because it tells the audience that this is an epilogue to the series and that this how the character that has carried the Toy Story films since 1995, gets his reward for encouraging others and giving them a happy ending.

@@_MUSTSEEFILMS_ Darren, Here's my take on a potential TS V... First, to fully arc the WHOLE series, B&W must reunite, because the overriding theme of the entire series is friendship. The starting and most memorable tune is "You've got a friend in me." My thought is that Andy gets married, has kids, and somehow all the toys (esp. B&W) are reunited with his new family. And that's how Pixar will close it out. As great as TS IV was, I just got that gut feeling that the entire saga was not quite over yet. One can only hope... Paul

@@_MUSTSEEFILMS_ I personally think that this film is a great stopping point for the series because the films have always been about Woody and no one else, Buzz and the rest of the lads got screentime, yes, but they were purely luggage in the story that would drive Woody's character and help him grow as a character through the lessons he's learnt, but also keeping his fear of becoming obsolete prevalent in each film, his jealousy towards Buzz in the first one and him not being Bonnie's favourite toy, being the two biggest elephants in the room. But in this one, he finally stops running from it and he embraces it. And him leaving the toys to go the carnival lets the toys know where to go when shit hits the fan. Basically follow him when Bonnie grows up and loses interest in toys altogether, and form a lost travelling circus of toys.
