That was a great video. I enjoyed that a lot. It looks in really nice shape. Is first gear all the way forward in second gear back? just curious. Thanks for the video.

Cant blame the rider for not wanting to get a compression fracture of his back riding the old beast. Or as has happened to me hit a bump wrong and getting launched off the snowmobile.

Oh come on. They didn’t ride that bad when set up right and they weren’t meant to be jumped like knievel either. We sold a lot of them when I was a kid. Never had complaints on the ride. These days it seems like everyone thinks you gotta have fifteen inches of travel.

I grew up in Morristown, Mn 2 years, 1975-76. I would watch the dirt track races in the summertime it was awesome. Way more entertaining than somebody's big black top fancy race tracks in its own way. It certainly no brickyard 400 or Daytona 500, but that's all the amateurs became professionals they all grew up on these great dirt tracks like this one. I hear they shut it down in 80. Too bad it was a piece of classic Americana that nobody would be hurt by bringing it back

I miss mine. 340. Chrome skis, shocks and tank. Cutters on skis. Put stingers and Comet 110C clutch on it. Kalamazoo Kangaroo Klaws. Polished ports. Wiseco Chrome Domes. Wasn't real fast by today's standards but it sounded great and was more fun than I ever deserved.

how hard is it to remove in the summer? how many holes do you have in the truck? I like the concept but after seeing this... im not sure a sled deck will work for me if its this difficult to install. I have a 5th wheel as well, not that I camp much in the winter but trailer is looking easier to deal with for some sleds. UGH
@JacobDahle4 жыл бұрын
When I remove it I just take the rail off underneath and use a forklift to lift it off. I thought the install was easy. I did it wearing socks. There's four 3/16" holes in each corner of the floor of the box. That's it.

Had a 50’s Eagle in 1967. Left it under the dorm at Evangel College with the signed pink for the next student that got my room, 😇. I wonder what happened to it? I don’t know if my 2014 Honda Forza 300 will still be running 70 years from now, 🤣

This summer I’m gonna try and restore my grandpa’s 49 model 54 When he was stationed in Japan after ww2 his base had a couple of cushman model 53 airbornes (they are like the 54 but striped down) and after he got back to the states he bought a 54 with the viramatic CVT and now I want to restore it I am nervous because I’m just trying to figure out everything from the little literature about it that he had and what I could find online about it, but it will be a great experience

Nice vid. How long total did it take to install? How was the Deck delivered? Are you happy with the deck now that you have had it for some time? How is the pickup bed and side walls? Any cracks or is the truck bed and side sill structurally sound?

Excellent idea! Any reason why you didn't add a block of wood to each side of the platform at the loading end to allow the ramp to lay on top of the platform instead of your tailgate?

How the hell do you shift on this?
@captlarry-35255 жыл бұрын
I The gear shift is on the side.. Low is back, Hi if forward. It has a centrifugal disc clutch with a manual override ( throw out bearing). you just use the foot clutch pedal, and let the revs synchronize then shift up or down.. let out the clutch again. stopped, you don't need the foot clutch because it is automatic (centrifugal). See at about 4 min.

Jared Busch I usually do. It's a lot quicker. But this is a nice alternative if you have a broke down sled or don't want to fog your shop with engine smoke. It's all about options.

I had a Cushman Eagle in high school, you won't grind the gears shifting into low gear if you stop before you shift. Every time I heard that CRUNCH it was like a bolt of fire right up my spine.
