Bramah claims credit for coming up with the idea of recording Lost In Music...they did it a few years after he left but Martin planted the seed in Mark's head

Please, please, please, someone restore the Annotated Fall website! The world needs it now more than ever!!! "Computers infest the hotels cops can't catch criminals" "My garden is made of stone There's a computer center over the road I saw a monster on the roof Its colors glowed on the roof" "Computer doesn't work for me I had a Sinclair back in 1983 OL2QU, pre-warranty And don't forget he's still up to it That Steve Albini He's in collusion with Virgin trains against me I'm a fifty year old man I'm a fifty year old man But it won't get me" "Just quit using your phone Just quit i-iPhone app Eye muscle is bright The lights of dis-enfranchencide Of dis-enfranchencide Why don't you leave it alone? Shout about the back gate and styrofoam" (the examples could go on... and yes I realize the irony)

Really enjoyed this...got to say though its not good that they dont get credited for songwriting or contributions to a song. Ok they arent going to be funding a yacht but its the principle.

Loved that. I used to love going to see the Fall during the Craig and Steve years and continued to pop into see how they were growing once in a while right until the end.

I’m going to sound a right miserable sod here 😂 but I wish he’d (Paul) let Craig speak after he’s asked him something

4 members of (one of) the most legendary line-up(s) of The Fall together in one place and for most of the time all they go on about is when they first saw a band, when and where....what a lost opportunity

Shout out for Big Flame. Very interesting song structures ( Saragasso? Something about 'The Irish'? ), always heard a Fire Engines influence, and that was no bad thing. Another seldom (never) mentioned Northern band was Tools You Can Trust. Saw them with Sonic Youth, they were great, SY, not so much.

38:57 - oh yeah, Wal's great. He was in Sofa Head after Dan. He's got a great voice as well. I hope I'm not misremembering this but he had so many records upstairs, it was too much for the house's structure, and it knackered the floor and pulled a wall down.

1:02:20 - that 'trick' originated with Hugh Padgham's work on Phil Collins's In the Air Tonight. He was working on an SSL desk, and it had a talk-back button (allowing the players to be heard in the control room) - the circuit had incredible compression. This created a huge drum sound.

50:38 - I genuinely thought Steve was being sarcastic and taking the piss in the Big Midweek when he kept going on about checking the midweek chart positions - but no.

13:39 - that's worth noting. Capacity = 1200, Manchester venue, one of New Order's earliest live outings - and they only sold out on the night. All that Joy Division renown and success, and it must've seemed to Phil Jones they wouldn't reach capacity.

At 25:38, actually, yes, there is an "Elastic Man" character in comic books. His full name was Ping, The Elastic Man, and he debuted in Beano Comics in 1938. He did not last long and his character was discontinued and ceased to be published by 1940. Ping, The Elastic Man was not a super hero, but more of a comical character. There are three other super heroes with similar names who have the same super power of being able to stretch their bodies like elastic. First was Plastic Man, who debuted in Police Comics # 1 in 1941. Next was the Elongated Man, who debuted in The Flash comics # 112 in 1960, and then finally there was Mister Fantastic, who debuted in Fantastic Four Comics # 1 in 1961.

Another great episode, another great guest. Nick Ross on Crimewatch in the early 90s yielded to some complaints about his 'don't have nightmares' sign-off. There was such outrage that he brought it back the next month. I don't think there would be such an outcry if Paul Hanley could drop his terminally unfunny 'if you're driving...' 'gag'.
