8:10 this board has major pcb design issues! just look at the placement of the esp32! with copper plane under it!
@NEWTechCreative22 сағат бұрын
I agree that this board has some design issues. However, I’m not entirely clear on your point about the copper plane. Most boards will have a copper plane or ground plane, which also assists with heat dissipation. If you are referring to the black section under the ESP module on this board, this is an antenna area.

I love this setup and video, and have been planning on trying this out for almost a year, and finally am about to do so, but I ran into a bit of a problem where I'm going to need to control/run x2 NEMA23 4.2amp stepper motors for the Y axis, which now I'm unsure how to do this using this type of ESP32 configuration? I purchased 3 DM556 Drivers a few months ago, which I'm guessing I will now need a 4th for the extra Y axis stepper being added, as you probably can't run x2 NEMA23 4.2amp stepper motors off on 1 DM556 right? And if so, would you just run 2 wires off of each of the Y Step and Y Direction coming out of the ULN2003A chip/board? Or will this setup not really work with two Y axis steppers? Any suggestions?? Please and thank you???
@NEWTechCreative10 күн бұрын
Great question. Yes you can run 2x motors off one driver, however the driver can only output max 5.6A and under power your motors (2.8A each). Best solution is to buy another driver and split step and direction from y axis from the uln2003A chip (yes only one needed per axis output). Alternatively you can purchase a dedicated esp32 CNC board that has additional outputs to control y axis separately and save additional wiring.
@slakjawnotsayin545110 күн бұрын
@@NEWTechCreative Oh awesome thanks. I was concerned that the output from the ULN2003A chip might then be underpowered as well for the Driver to work properly, kind of like before adding the ULN2003A and just running off of the 3v that the ESP32 puts out? So thought maybe I might need another ULN2003A chip added as well somehow? But you figure that shouldn't be an issue? Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it!
@NEWTechCreative9 күн бұрын
No problems. I like your thinking - very logical! The one uln2003A chip will be more than sufficient to run both Y axis drivers.

@12:26 Perhaps _explain_ what the machine is intended for so people can either pass a reasonable judgement or perhaps give input on how to address any ongoing issues? 🤨 As of now it looks like it pretty much failed in the one task it was supposed to excel at being a Fast, large scale CoreXY with it not being able to draw _either_ straight lines or accurate corners.

Thanks for your comment. Some limit switches or sensors have a 5v function for the 3pin setup, however if only using basic switches like mine in the video, only need to wire one side to GND and other to Signal.

Large belts are good for rigidity, but with such small diameter pulley you need to use the finest pitch you can find. In your case the coging is obvious on your spiral test draw. A 5mm pitch belt has an increase of tension when each step reach a tooth thus making facets instead of radiuses. 5mm belts have a thick core done for way more traction than you need, and you cant put enoughy tension in them even with your assembly. I would rather use a 2mm pitch belt with the same width, at least at the servo reduction. Other than that nice sturdy design.
@NEWTechCreativeАй бұрын
Great suggestion! I hadn’t considered this… there is a 3mm version that seems common for larger machines that I could try. I would be concerned that the 2mm might be too fine and cause skipping. R+D 🤩 Cheers Eric!

7:00 if that part cannot be made by a CNC machine, that is a DFM (design for manufacturing) issue on your part. Totally possible to make some changes to the part geometry to make that much more cheaply made on a 3 axis CNC with a few setups. Adding a few radii to corners and not having unnecessarily difficult to machine features etc. When I worked as a mechanical engineer, one-off parts like that and significantly more complex ones would be machined on 3 axis mills in house, and while my employer did own a metal 3D printer it was so unreliable and expensive to use it was essentially collecting dust for years.
@NEWTechCreativeАй бұрын
I agree that a redesign would be more efficient for CNC milling! Definitely consider this for down the track. I can imagine that SLM process can be very fussy… hopefully with time this will become more efficient.
@oOWaschBaerOoАй бұрын
did you tension the belts correctly ? gates has recommended belt tensions you can measure those by using a phone and an app to get the frequency on a specific distance of belt ( like 150mm belt) with such a full aluminium build you can easily go to the max belt tension given that the motors running the belts have proper mounting and use double shear 2 bearings top and bottom

Two ways for this: 1. Over USB port and using the fluidterm to setup - fluidterm is in the setup files. Use the $ commands to setup. More info here: wiki.fluidnc.com/en/features/wifi_bt 2. @NEWTechCreativeАй бұрын
Great question! The main difference from the perspective of laser technology is that CO2 lasers can cut a greater range of materials. Diode lasers unfortunately cannot cut clear materials and limits what you can create with your machine. As long as you mount your air hose outdoors, you won’t need a purifier. It was only the water need to purchase additionally to cool the CO2 tube.

I want to switch away from Mach4 for my CNC router. I want the new style wifi type firmware like 3D printers use. I think I have narrowed down between FluidNC and buying a board from Bart, or Buying a Duet3 board and using Reprap. I wonder which one is more finished and will be easiest to implement on my CNC router? The good thing about Duet is I want to switch a couple 3D printers I have from Marlin to Duet / Reprap as well. So I could have a common hardware / firmware between my CNC machines and 3D printers.
@NEWTechCreative2 ай бұрын
Great question. Personally I would stay with mach4 due to the dedicated CNC platform and flexibility in software, however if your intending to change, I would get frustrated using Reprap platform for CNC purposes. Reprap will have a reduced functionality for CNC use where as fluidnc is a CNC platform at heart. At the end of the day go with what you are most comfortable with and make it a learning journey 🤩🤩

Extra weight at the bottom? Unlikely, i think it's just bottom heavy by design because that's where power elecrtronics and the Z powertrain lives. TT was previously known as Tevo and gained a pretty horrible reputation for itself; but it's since evolved a lot. Two of the people i knew at Geeetech work there now. I wonder if the HGX gears are well axis supported in the extruder. Creality K2 has a flaw there that the axis just start flopping around and the extruder gears start misbehaving in all sorts of ways.

For example, if you have a wemos d1 and the blue LED does not light up when you plug the usb port into a PC. Its because there is no com port. It needs a virtual comport driver.
