Great video, I know the Tomir 2 are on the market but I found a really good deal on the Tomir 1, I've had the Saucony Xodus ultra version 1, I know the Tomir are firmer but is there too much of a difference in cushioning between the Xodus and the Tomir? Or is it a type of cushioning that a Xodus Ultra 1 user can get used to?
@robsbeenrunning20 күн бұрын
Hi Said, Yes there is quite a bit of difference in the cushioning between the Xodus 1 and the Tomir 1. You would notice it on very long runs for sure. The Tomir 1 is not uncomfortable at all, but it is a lot firmer, it is just a different style of cushioning. Both shoes do a good job of protecting your foot from stones and rocks, just just do it differently. I still prefer the Xodus 1 cushioning for myself. Thanks for watching. 👍
@saidpuentes96820 күн бұрын
@@robsbeenrunning Thanks for the reply Rob, I have the Salomon Sense Ride 4 which have a firm cushioning feel, I put the Xodus insoles in them and they gave me a bit more comfort for long distance, do you think if I put the Xodus insoles in the Tomir the perception of comfort would improve? Or do you think there would be no change in the feeling of comfort even with a Pwrrun+ insole?
@robsbeenrunning19 күн бұрын
@@saidpuentes968 Hi Said, the insoles in the Tomir 1 are not removeable, so if you put the insoles of the Xodus 1 into that shoe you would end up with 2 insoles, so I am not sure how that would work. My advice would be to get hold of a pair of the Tomir 1 and try them indoors on a hard floor, just in case you need to send them back. It's hard to say if they will be too firm for you or not, you would just need to try them. Thanks Rob

@@victorystone1984 Yes, it's hard to keep up with the changes in shoe technology, the manufacturers seem to go from firm to soft to firm cushioning over the course of a few years. Is it good for a walking shoe do You think?
@robsbeenrunning3 ай бұрын
Hi, Possibly too soft for a walking shoe, it would depend on what time of terrain you are walking on, for instance if you are walking in somewhere like the Lake District or Peak District in the UK, then you are going to need more structure to your shoe to give you stablility and protection, but if you are just wanting to use the show for light walks in the forest or taking the dog for a walk etc.. then the Hierro would be fine. The shoe would definitely be comfortable for sure.

I was looking at picking up a pair of these for a Wolf Run I've got coming up (I generally road run most of the time, so figured I need something better for a Wolf Run) would you not recommend them for that purpose? Main reason I was looking at these is because they do them in 4E (I have wide feet) and I couldn't see any others with that width.

Hi Iain, The Wolf run is probably too muddy for any shoes anyway, juding by the website. I'd say you could buy any trail shoes for that type of run and they'd all perform similar, except for perhaps the Inov8 Mudtalon. The Hierrov8 are definitely better on drier trails, they would struggle in deep mud. If you are looking for wide shoes then Hoka Speedgoat 5 do a 2e, Invo8 new range come in a wide option, and Topo Athletic are generally wide shoes. I have wide feet as well and I use Saucony Xodus Ultras, although they only have a 4.5mm lug. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Rob👍
