I’ve been using cakewalk sonar (back when cakewalk was called sonar) for the last 10 years, it was always my weapon of choice, nowadays it’s a great daw if you want a music software that is free and complete, highly recommended

im trying to switch from ableton to another daw,my top 3,fl studio cubase studio one,my question is,is fl studio really that much bad for audio and recordings? i just cant understand,if its bad,how come most producers and most songs are made in fl studio?
@seigeinc12 күн бұрын
It's not "bad" at recording audio in any way. The only thing FL's Audio recording "lacks" at this point is a comping/"playlisting" feature similar to that of Pro Tools or Ableton. I have a whole video about recording audio in FL from a few months ago that shows how I personally use it, and how quick and easy you can move with it, along with some reasons why I prefer it over recording audio in a "traditional Daw" (where playlist track 1 = mixer track 1, etc). At the end of the day though audio from FL for 90% of major label artists/releases is still getting mixed in Pro Tools whether it be just a 2 track mix of the beat + vocals, or the beat multi-tracks and the vocals haha

You can also show ghost notes from other patterns which is new, right click a Playlist track and go "Show ghost notes" or right click the ghost note selector button in the piano roll
@seigeinc13 күн бұрын
That's what I thought, I tried to do it but couldn't get it to come up correctly when I recorded the vid so I edited it out just in case I was saying the wrong thing haha
@Purplesky-ky5jo13 күн бұрын
It's not super obvious how to do it because they'll only show when patterns are opened from the playlist, and only when the two clips actually overlapp
@seigeinc13 күн бұрын
@Purplesky-ky5jo ah yeah, I don't think I had them overlapping in the playlist when I tried

Is this a Layla joke? I'm guessing you mean A C D, or corresponding frets.
@seigeinc16 күн бұрын
Smoke on the water lol
@NebMunb6916 күн бұрын
@seigeinc Ahh so that 0 3 5 box up and down the strings. Layla is a good one to learn in the 0 3 5 framework, and Schism by tool has similar triplet work that works a little different rhythmically. Try instead of "0 3 5" use the whole range of that scale you're working off. It's different keys depending on the string you start with, but you're extending 0 3 5 ito 5 6 7, and more octaves.

Realistically, in this day and age there are different flavors of the same capabilities. FL is more flexible for if you like to create your own workflows, whereas Ableton has a very well refined set in stone workflow that has been well documented on KZbin
@seigeinc19 күн бұрын
Yeah I actually started with Live Lite as far as making beats since it came with my first Focusrite. I know it's extremely limited compared to Standard or Suite but I still go back to it to warp clips all the time. I find that it feels like it can invoke a specific midset for me personally in whatever I'm making , which like you said probably has to do with the "standardized" workflow, that I don't tend to get in FL
