To be fair on Sonic Battle, you can do grinding for the sake of unlocking new moves, but you can win easily more than 1 point per battle because the points you earn are based on how good you fought, for example, if i recall correctly, you can win 10 points in a single fight if you not get hit once.

I love the original sonic riders. Man am I bad. Only beat the heroes story as a kid. Came back years later to beat it. Also Sonic Chronicles was my biggest guilty pleasure for the DS. I played it so often. Especially cause the ng+. I know many hate the music, but some tracks are nice. I think it's just the bit crunch making people think all sound bad. I waited years for a Chronicles 2 to figure out what happened cause Eggman backstabbed you, but it failed so hard and copyright reasons we'll never get it

lowkey sonic shuffle is the worst tutorial of a game of ive ever seen like for example you can shuffle your cards so it wont be in the same place every time by pressing x when is not your turn (helps against the cheating ai & since they only remember when they first give them to you its a hard counter) the game doesn't tell you that you can shuffle in sonic SHUFFLE, or how about sonic ability when you grab a card like a 6 for example & when its your next turn if you grab a 6 agains it'll turn into a 12! (that what makes sonic the best character in the game not counting super sonic) but the game barely explains this & i mostly figured this out by watching speedrunners do it & even there not 100% sure about the games mechanics there at a 80% right now, sonic shuffle is more like dokapun kingdom than a mario party but with how the game presents itself its a goddamn joke that the tutorials are this pathetic

The reason why there’s not a tutorial embedded in most of these games is because throughout the generation the manuals that came with the physical game copy would usually explain how to play. I’ve recently bought sonic riders in 2024 and I learned the game through the manual.

this is very much an “erm actually” but the earlier puyo games were not by sega but actually the company Compile! it wasn’t until the early 2000s that sega got the rights to puyo puyo, so that’s why things like kirby’s avalanche exist
